A Fond Farewell

I leave today for home. I have had the most amazing summer here in France. I have met so many wonderful, friendly people and seen so many beautiful and interesting places. A special thank you to my friend Peter who was again so very generous with his time and made my trips to Paris so much fun. I'm a very lucky girl! Am I sad to be leaving? You bet, but I found this quote from Eddie on Nathalie's Avignon blog yesterday that says it pretty well.

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. "

"Ne pleurez pas parce qu'il s'est fini. Souriez parce qu'il s'est passe."

I will continue to post photographs here as long as I have them. When they run out I guess I'll have to figure out how to get back to Paris for more!

Perfect quote. We could all do with remembering that from time to time. Have a safe trip home :)

Yes, indeedy, you'll have to find an excuse that will take you back to France.

Thanks for giving us the reference on the quote. I saw it on your site earlier today and was wondering about it. It certainly is a good philosophy.

Safe travels! à la prochaine fois......

How bittersweet. I bet Delta flight attendants won't treat you as well as Parisian waiters. But you will never forget this experience. You had the privilege of living it and I know you will find your way back.

I'm not gone yet. See the update above. I even have some airport photos I just took that I'll add. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop" you know!

This is the one thing I'm bummed we didn't photograph at dusk: la Tour Eiffel. Oh well. Next trip, I guess!

Bon voyage, VJ! Hope to see you again soon.

Virginia, safe travels on your trip home! And thanks for the reference :) I was wondering if you speak French, or if not, how much you picked up while spending the summer in France?

Bon voyage et merci encore!

Oooo, I love that quote! I'll use it in effective parenting, for sure.

Here's another quote I love:

Eiffel Tower!
Eiffel Tower!!
Eiffel Tower!!!

I'm so happy we have Paris. It's simply a dream.

Merci for you kind wishes. I"m back at the place I've been staying the last few days so I'm not totally homeless yet. I try again tomorrow. New Skill today: Managed to get home by using the RER and Metro from CDG> LOrd Have Mercy I'm tired and grumpy.
