Mary and I walked up on an fashion week "event" at Colette , our first rainy night in Paris.  This adorable voiture was covered in flowers from stem to stern!

Look Up!

When I'm in Paris, I think I spend most of my time looking up.  I loved to gaze up at the ironwork balcons and imagine what's inside all those apartments.  And then there are the monuments.  This sunny day, a real surprise after a morning or downpours, I was trying to find every angle at the Palais Royal.  Les Colonnes de Buren are always fun to shoot, but this day, I found a different way to look at them.

Promenades à poney

If you are traveling to Paris with children, the pony rides at Luxembourg Gardens and Tuileries are a must.

Vieux amis

As you all know by know, I try to visit the dancers on Sundays at rue Mouffetard as often as I can. I've been fortunate to meet a number of them . Today you will of course recognize one of my favorites, Michel. He's not dancing with his usual partner but dear Nellie.  Nellie came faithfully every Sunday for many years, but my friend Roger told me recently that she's not been in the best of health so she doesn't join them as frequently.  Certainly she was a bright spot in the crowd of locals and one I always sought to photograph.

Marcher!

If it's your first time to experience Métro Abbesses, then by all means march right up the zillion steps to the very top. Along the way you will be delighted to have many colorful murals to amuse you while you draw your (last?) breath.  On the other hand, if you've been there and done that, take the lift IF it's working.

Le Coureur

I'm not sure. Do you think he was preparing for a run around le Centre Pompidou or to sprint up the steps of the escalator??

Vive le Tour de France!

Today is the end of the Tour de France.  I've loved watching their trek through the French countryside. Today,  I wait with anticipation,  as they zoom around Paris, and I catch glimpses of places I know and love.

Merci de Merci

I try to visit Merci every time I get to Paris. They have a treasure trove of letters of all shapes and sizes. Sometimes they are on the wall, other times dumped in bins. This day, they spelled out the magic word in Paris!

Le plus grand cimetière

Paris' largest resting place, Cimetière du Père Lachaise, bien sûr.  If you are going to be in Paris for a while, this is the one you should see. If a short visit, there are many other smaller ones that you can visit.

La Famille

If I had to guess, I'd think this was a family visiting Paris. Dad was very focused on capturing his adorable family of four on the Buren columns. I didn't blame him a bit. In fact, I hung back and got a lot of shots myself. Their faces here show that they had grown a bit weary of the photo shoot. I can relate to that.

French Stranger # 82 - L'artiste

Place du Tertre in Montmartre is usually packed with artists and tourists,  but in January with snow melting on the ground, only a few hearty souls were set up, most waiting and waiting like this gentleman.  The photograph on the left shows he was a bit skeptical as I walked up clicking away. I gave him a smile and a "bonjour".  I almost got a smile back in the top photo. Merci Monsieur!

Une Rose

This last trip I discovered a delicious flower shop, Roses Costes Dani Roses.  Located in the Hôtel Costes on rue Saint-Honoré, they sell only........roses!  We passed the shop many times before I finally got inside on our last day.  Today I share a window display.  The rose in the vase moved around the crystal drop. Très belle! Never fear, we will return.

Boutiques Parisiennes Series - Au Passe-Partout

Tucked away in the Marais, is an interesting little shop specializing in antique keys, corkscrews, knives, and locks. The owner, M. Mark Feldman is a bit of an expert and has written a book on keys that he proudly showed me.  This is one of those tiny little specialty shops that make Paris such a delightful place to wander and discover.

While photographing at the Four Seasons Hôtel George V,  I spotted this perfect  little table and chair set for a special someone who would soon be having petit déjeuner with her parents.  They think of everything!

Boutiques Parisiennes Series - L'artisan Fleuriste

While in Paris last January, I visited quite a few florists for a magazine assignment.  While in the Marais, photographer Carla Coulson took me to her favorite florist, L'artisan Fleuriste.  The handsome owner was very gracious to show me around and allow a quick portrait.

Soldes....let the games begin

You veteran Paris visitors know all about SOLDES.  The huge city wide sales come just twice a year.  The summer soldes started June 26th and run through July 30th.  During the economic crunch it's rumored that the city has become a little more lenient, allowing for some unannounced sales throughout the year.  I've taken advantage of the January soldes many times and was very grateful when my luggage was delayed to be able to shop the July sales to get me by!

Today, Repetto's lovely window. Inside there was a buying frenzy going on.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Facade

In Paris, the options for facades are endless. I chose this wall beside a florist's shop on the Marais. As I took the shot I wondered if it was to cover the graffiti or another statement. I liked it no matter the reason.

Today my CIty Daily Photo blog friends around the world are posting their take on FACADES. Go visit their great blogs HERE!
