The P Is For Poilâne

Being granted permission to photograph the baking of the trademark Poilâne sourdough loaves was a very special occasion. We were allowed down in the cav where the first round loaves were baked in 1932. This is their flagship store on rue Cherche-Midi. I"ve been lucky enough to stay just a few doors down on two trips to Paris. All the round loaves bear the signature P for Poilâne!

I have been photographing Alexis' boutique inside and out since 2008. Do you blame me?

Nos drapeaux!

Today, here in America we honor those who have lost their lives in service to our country. I love this image taken on rue Mouffetard, just two days after the terrorist attacks on Paris in 2015.  I love this solidarity among the country I call home and my second home.

Paris People

The Marais district of Paris is one of my very favorite places to photograph because of its ethnic and religious diversity. This Jewish man, passing out pamphlets caught my eye.  What a beautiful face.

Bobines de ruban

Oh we're back at Ultramod, two of my favorite shops in Paris. This shop, offers thread, buttons, trim and ribbon of all kinds. Across the street, you will find every millinery item you might need for exquisite hats.

Through the Window

I have a rather long list of Paris shops that are always closed when I visit! I have to satisfy my curiosity with "through the window photos". Here at Galerie Vivienne. I love the books crammed into every available space. Reminds me of home.

Paris Rouge - Losco

Ceintures Losco, located in the Marais is  yet another specialty shop of fine craftsmanship you find all over Paris. The worktable, neat and orderly is where the exquisite leather belts are crafted. Also for purchase, many beautiful buckles. There is another location on rue de Sèvres in the 6eme.

Deux amis

These two guys, Peter Olson on the left, and Owen Phillips on the right, admiring the wonderful art collection at the Musée Condé at the  Chateau de Chantilly. I met them both via my Paris blog and we do love to get together whenever I pay a visit. I am very fortunate to call them my friends!

Les bateaux à Tuileries

I will be very sad when these guys no longer rent the sail boats here. It's Paris, things don't change that often. I have hope!

Sunday Church Series - Almost There!

If you have ever made the trek to the dome of the Sacre Coeur, you know this very spot. When after what seems like hours...days...of climbing the winding stairs, you find yourself outside on the rooftops with this view. It's a welcome breath of fresh air, but alas, you must go back and climb many more steps. I've made this twice and there will NOT be another climb for me, but I have many photos!

100 French Strangers Challene #86 - L'artiste

It's been a long time since I started my 100 French Strangers Challenge. Back in 2009, I started it after having a grand time finding 100 strangers who I spoke with before taking the photo here in Birmingham. I have always found the French to be very welcoming and friendly and love capturing their smiles ( and sometimes not). This is a talented artist I met on rue de Rivoli on a rainy Sunday last November. I loved her work and asked for her photo.

The Photo Shoot

It's not uncommon to walk up on a photo shoot in progress. This photographer was kind enough to let me have a quick shot at Place des Vosges.

One of the experiences in Paris I love most, music on the streets!

Pont des Arts

I never tire of photographing this bridge now that it has been rid of the zillions of horrible "love locks". Merci to the City of Paris for tackling this expensive and time consuming task. Thankfully now more bridges are being rid of the weight and destruction due to the lock craze. Make love... not locks!

CDP Theme Day - Let's Eat

Nothing says Paris like walking into the local fromagerie. The aroma greets you at the door!

Today, I join my fellow City Daily Photobloggers for year another first of the month Theme Day. You might note that I'm 2 days late. Dommage, a tree fell on my apartment building last Sunday and I was without power. I hope you will visit the Theme Day Gallery to see all of the creative photos posted by my blog friends far and wide!
