Pour les bébés

The Pavillon de la Fontaine is a charming little café just across from the carrousel at Luxembourg Gardens. I've not eaten there, but this precious and oh so Parisian, high chair caught my eye.

Drum Roll.....

I am pleased (ecstatic)  to share the publication of Juliet Blackwell's new novel The Paris Key. Some of you might recognize my image with the addition of some lovely fleurs. This is of course, my first book cover and I am over the moon. I'm off to order myself a copy!

Today we visit another ladies' room at Aéroport Charles de Gaulle.  I promised the Degas doors and today you have a look. If you want a closer look, they are found in the Air France/Delta terminal.

La plafond

This contemporary art installation is actually the entrance to the oldest hospital in Paris, l'Hôtel de Dieu. Not only is it Paris' oldest, it's also the oldest hospital worldwide. It's a beautiful building, just across the street from Notre Dame.Thank you Peter for taking us inside. 

Sunday Church Series - Saint Séverin

Another image from one of many beautiful churches in Paris, and a personal favorite. Église Saint-Séverin, built in the 15th Century is, in my opinion, a must see when you visit Paris.

Les boules

At last the Pol Bury Fountains are now uncovered for all to enjoy. I love the Palais Royal and these fountains. For quite a while they were covered in order to share the space for La Comédie Francaise,
which is now completed.

Sundays at the Luxembourg Gardens bring out Parisians of all ages. The pétanque players attract their own special followers. This couple stopped to enjoy.

Les touristes

Café de Flore has a long and rich history in Paris. Now, it's a tourist destination.  I've not stopped in,  but it's a great photo op while passing by!

SOLDES!

Soldes, sales, occur in Paris twice a year, in January and July. Repetto's window never disappoints. I'm framing this for my ballerina granddaughter Chappell.

Sunday Church Series - St. Severin

Saint-Sèverin is one of my favorite churches in Paris, mainly for its beautiful stained glass windows and twisted pillars,  but I loved the light on the painting here.

Le pain

I always enjoy seeing the place where small Paris restaurants slice their bread. There are always the obligatory straw baskets and the always fresh baguette sliced just before it's served. This is the lovely old bar and restaurant, A la Pomponnette, depuis 1909. If you are in the Montmartre area I highly recommend. One of the best meals I've had in Paris for a very reasonable price.

While we took the little train around le Jardin d'Acclimatation at the Bois de Boulogne, we spotted this group enjoying the beautiful day in true Parisian fashion, in a circle.

 Sunday at Luxembourg Gardens. I think I should just arrive early in the morning and stay ALL day. There are so many things to see and photograph.

J'adore!

 I have so very many images of Paris and each time I return from a trip, I pour over
what are now thousands from each trip. It's only natural that I miss a few.  Last night I was clicking through and deleting photos, but found this one, a keeper!  I like it a lot.  I hope you do too. It's Place du Tertre in Montmartre. I don't go there often when I'm in the area, as I don't love the tourists but in November, it's pretty quiet and just a faithful band of artists hang out. If you are visiting Paris for the first time... go.

Spotted on Île Saint Louis

Cour Carrée du Louvre

I bought a lovely little book years ago titled Quiet Corners Of Paris. Organized by arrondissement, it features often overlooked places in Paris that you can seek out free of charge. The Cour Carrée is the first one listed. It mentions that the idea of a QUIET place in one of the most visited places in Paris might seem unusual, but it's true. Most visitors enter via the Cour Carrousel side and it's teeming with visitors almost any time of the year. This "square courtyard" is best entered from the side of St. Germain-l'Suxerrois on rue de l'Armiral-de-Coligny. The architecture is of course spectacular and next trip, I might find a spot to sit and just enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle.

Un endriot tranquille

Place Dauphine, just across from the Pont Neuf, is always a quiet place to stop after a long day of walking. In the background you will see the equestrian statue of Henry IV of France overlooking the pont.

Sunday Church Series - la Basilique du Sacré- Coeur

The construction of La Basilique du Sacré-Coeur started in 1875 and finished in 1919. The mosaic ceiling is exquisite. This last visit, I was the last of our group inside the church and took a shortcut to join my friends. I did not see the "No Photos" signs and took many photos of the inside of this beautiful place. This is the only church in Paris that I know of that does not allow photographs. I try to be very respectful in all churches and certainly would not have ignored their rules had I seen the signs. Confession over, hoping for forgiveness.

Facing West

This replica of our Statue of Liberty stands on the Île aux Cygnes and faces west towards the United States. This 1/4 scale replica inaugurated on 4 July, 1889, was given by the American community in Paris to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution. It originally faced east toward la Tour Eiffel but was turned in 1937. A plaque at the base bears the inscription IV juillet 1776 = XIV juillet, 1789.

I think Cimetière du Montmartre is one of my favorite cemeteries. If you are planning a day in Montmartre, do walk down the hill and stroll through. Near Pigalle, you can also take in the "color" of that area as well.

Yesterday was CDP Theme Day and as you know, the theme was UPSIDE DOWN. This was my runner up, a green chair at Tuileries after a shower.

If you are looking for a very cool spot to rest your head in Paris, then l'Hôtel Original, located near Place de la Bastille, might be your place. No too rooms are alike and this neon spiral staircase is a showstopper.
