L'amour à Hôtel de Sully

These doorways in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Sully at Place des Vosges, seems to always have friends sitting in the doorways.  This couple seemed to be more than friends.  Amour ?

Village de Noël

This shop on rue Butte- aux- Cailles, was still dressed for Christmas.  It was closed that day so we couldn't go in and poke around.

Coucher de soleil

You will probably never see a Paris sunrise taken with my Canon, but I have a few sunsets that I especially love.  This one with La Conciergerie in the distance is a praticular favorite of mine.

Beaucoup de choix

Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, was visual overload for me.  I found too many choices to peruse and to photograph. I loves this old valise and the tango music in this stall.

La grille

Winding our way through this divine little out of the way street ( there was a sign, "PRIVÉ"- phfffttt ) on our way to have a look at  Le Procope, I found so many things to photograph that it took longer than expected!

Sunday Church Series - Basilique Saint-Denis

This beautiful church is located in the suburb of St. Denis, about 9.4 km  north of Paris.  A beautiful church not to be missed.

Musique sur le pont

The Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge,  is always alive with musicians, artists and other creative Parisians.  This friendly gentleman's music added to our stroll across to the Left Bank.

Les préparations

Le Reminet

Today as all of us celebrate Thanksgiving here in the U.S., perhaps my expat friends in Paris will dining on something more French.  Today I am most grateful for my family, friends here and around the world. Bon appétit!

Mademoiselle Li's

Artist Hippolyte Romain created this lovely little tearoom, Mademoiselle Li, in the Jardin d'Acclimation in the Bois de Boulogne.  As the Jardin's artisitic director, his delightful illustrations are found all over the park, and on the outside walls of the masion de thé.  We had lots of kiddos with us the day we visited so the tearoom was not on the list.  Maybe I'll have another chance one day.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting blogger Janey ( Thick and Thin Air) and husband Tom as the stopped in Birmingham on their way through B"ham.  Janey loves Paris too and we met through this blog.  We had a great time sharing travel stories but of course it wasn't long enough. I hope they will make this a regular stop from now on and we can continue....

Automne à Paris

Here in Alabama, we call this Virginia Creeper. I would love to know what the French version is called.  In Paris,  it is glorious in the fall when the leaves turn , but I love it in the winter as well,  when only the vines are left, winding their way up the walls.

L'artist et son oeuvre

You've met the artist, now let's have a closer look at his beautiful Conté drawing of Canal St. Martin. I never thought to ask if he was willing to sell it and the price.

Paris Rouge - Bibliotèque nationale de France

The Bibliotèque nationale de France Richelieu ( under renovation) is probably a place I wouldn't just wander into but my friend Peter knew better. I took one look at the awnings and knew I would enjoy what was inside. The bare branches against the neutral walls caught me eye as well.  I've made posts here and here of this visit. And I might just another.

Après la danse

After the singing and dancing on rue Mouffetard, many of the participants adjourn to smaller cafés up or down the street to have lunch and continuing the dancing.  I discovered this quite by accident as we climbed Mouffetard this Sunday. I hear Monsieur's accordion and poked my camera in the open door.  I was a little to shy to go in and pull up a chair, but who knows, maybe next trip I'll do just that!

Dans l'herbe

The Musée du quai Branly, one of Paris' newer museums displays collections of objects from African, Asian, Oceanian and American civilizations.  Opened in 2006, it sits along the Seine with la Tour Eiffel close by.  A nice friendship.

Un coup de amin

One of the most charming and unusual carrousels in Paris, the Dodo Manège features extinct and endangered animals.  This petit enfant needed a little help from Papa.

The Tube

The industrial feel of the Centre Pompidou is not really my cup of tea, but I have to admit as a photographer,  it offers endless photo opportunities, marvelous exhibits,  and the views below are really a terrific viewpoint!

Sunday Church Series - Our Lady

Photographing the magnificent Cathèdrale Notre Dame de Paris is daunting.  I like to find details such as this chandelier that seems to crown the Blessed Virgin.

In For Repairs

Yesterday I posted this photograph on my Facebook Virginia Jones Photography page.  Several readers asked about this room at the Louvre.  I took these in 2008 so I am not certain where it's located but it's an area visible to the public, so I was not trespassing!  I remembered correctly (quelle suprise) that there was also a way to look down from another floor and found the second photo that I share today as well.

Le Gardien

The small cemetery behind the Église Saint Germain de Charonne, was going about his duties this Saturday morning.

If given the choice, I'd still choose the bell, not the surveillance électronique.

Speechless

I walked up on these two standing, slack jawed outside of this gallery late one afternoon.  I will have to admit, I was a bit speechless myself, but could not resist the photo opportunity.  I've almost posted this many times and thought better of it.  Recently a friend urged me to go for it.  C'est Paris, n'est-ce pas??

I was very careful where I placed my copyright on this one!

Automne à Montmartre

Cobblestones, falling leaves, stone wall, lamp post, ochre walls, and those white mums marching down the hill.

Paris Rouge - Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine

There are a very few places in Paris that I think are off the beaten path. Why this fabulous museum ( that overlooks la Tour Eiffel) is still one of them, I have no idea.  Have you been?

Attente

I'm sure there are lots of scenarios that we could all come up with here.  Whatever his story, it's obvious that he was not enjoying the lovely summer afternoon at the Place des Vosges alone.

CDP Theme Day - Water's Edge

This is the first Theme Day since my Paris blog joined my other dear blog friends at City Daily Photo.
I chose this couple enjoying déjeuner at Six- Huit along the Seine.  I'll admit I've never tried it but it does look like fun!
