Les bougies de la ruche

The Butte aux Cailles neighborhood of Paris in the 13th arrondissement, is a quiet charming area to stroll up and down the hilly streets. We stopped in Les Arbeilles, filled with all things honey. Yet another time when the photographs took over and I walked out without a thing. What sweet little cadeaux they would have been. Next trip, I'm heading right back there!

Sunday Church Series - Boys Will Be Boys

After services at The American Cathedral in Paris, visitors are welcomed in the back of the sanctuary for coffee and cookies. I always enjoy getting to speak with members of the congregation and the ministers. Meanwhile, these two were a bit tired of being bons garçons and had a little fun.

Dans le Métro

I like to capture what I call "Day in the Life of Paris" photos from time to time. Reminds me of the daily memories I don't want to forget.

Up on the Roof

This is a view that many of you might have seen. It's the outside of the fabulous glass and steel dome of Galeries Lafayette as seen from the rooftop. In the background, yet another Living Wall/Vertical Garden. These walls are springing up all over Paris!

Sunday Church Series - Baisser les yeux

I often preach that you should always look UP in Paris. When visiting The American Cathedral in Paris, you need to do that in order to view the beautiful flags of the states. After that, have a look down at the beautifully patterned marble floor.

Chaussures de pointe

This last trip I screwed up my courage and actually went inside Repetto and asked to take photos and they said, "Oui!" Be still my heart. This is a ballerina's dream world.

Tools of the Trade

We're poking around a little passageway near the Bastille, and I peer through the window and spot this work table. The tools of an artisan who repairs and  restores old furniture.

Iconic

I know le Colonne de Juillet will remain, but looks like the city of Paris will be revamping these iconic journals.  I hope they will keep the character of these wonderful old newsstands.

Deux Amies

These two, most likely Americans in Paris, were having so much fun sharing a pair of ear buds on the Métro. They were laughing and enjoying their music. We were happy just watching. They looked up and one said, "Oh you're laughing at us!" We assured them that we were just enjoying their fun. It's rare on the Paris Metro you know. As we all exited and headed to the stairs, we asked for photos. Such a fun memory.

Statue de la Liberté

This smaller version of Liberty Enlightening the World, Lady Liberty, located on the Île aux Cygnes was erected on 4 July, 1889 four years after the original statue was given to the United States. She faces west toward the New York. It was given by the Parisian community in America to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution. I took this photo in 2009 on 14 juilliet, Bastille Day in Paris. A night I will never forget.
