My last day in Paris, Peter asked where I wanted to go. I didn't miss a beat... Tuileries. It is a place I return to again and again. Even in the winter I love it. Perhaps it's because I have such sweet memories of my first taste of Paris with Melissa and Eva right there. This day it was yet another misty, chilly Paris day. We strolled from the Louvre right through the gardens and then the grande roue loomed ahead. Peter asked if I wanted to go up. I said, " Oh, non, I don't have the courage!" Then....I don't know why... as we walked right to it, I turned and said, "Yes, I will do it!" Thankfully Peter had the Euros, and up we went. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I saw Paris spread all below me! A breathtaking experience... my last day in Paris!
For the REAL
Paris From Above by Yann Arthus-Bertand go
here. I saw this at the
Marmottan-Monet in July, 2009. It is wonderful!

I think a perfect composition in Black and White ...
I did the same with my daughter a few days ago. The "grande roue" is very slow in fact, so you can't be afraid. And the view, wow!
Love your red umbrella!
A classically elegant scene, Virginia. Just like you. :)
Wonderful shot from above, V... and you even captured the park chairs. Thankfully, I know that you were not "hanging out of the window" to snap this one - hah!

Ooooh -- I love this B&W winter shot. The trees are just reaching out to me -- as are the chairs -- but I think I will wait until it's a little warmer to go and sit down there.
Fantastic!
Si! Always go to an elevated place. Excellent capture!
Wonderful!!! There's nothing quite like a view from the top!!!
You were well-rewarded for your courage—and so are we! Thanks for sharing this wonderful shot, V!
La Grande Roue de Paris offers views you just can't get from any other spot in Paris. I would really like to go up in the evening one time.
lovely view but I am cold just looking at the photo! Being from Eastern Canada I just know how cold it is but still beautiful!
Pamela :)
I'm certain that all experiences in Paris are breathtaking. I'm glad you've enjoyed your time in Paris. I bet it's sad to say au revoir, non?
Another great b&w photo. Bravo for your courage.
Wonderful! Love the shot and would love to have gone up in the grande roue. Good girl! Great idea and fab that Peter has some euros in his pocket! Can there be a better tour guide to Paris than Peter?
Beautiful shot! It's perfect in b&w!
