I am pleased to announce that I will be presenting my phototalk, Sacred Spaces of Paris,at 7:00 on Monday, February 5 at Independent Presbyterian Church. This year's Religious Arts Festival is a salute to France. On Thursday, February 8th, Notre Dame organist Vincent Dubois will speak at the banquet and play a recital on Sunday, the 11th. For a complete schedule of all events, please visit the website HERE. All programs are free and open to the public. The banquet ($25) requires a reservation which can be made online. Just to amuse myself, I always have a look in the rearview mirrors of dozens of huge motorcycles parked along the streets of Paris. Sometimes I get lucky. Saint-Chapelle!

These beautiful roses were draped all along the fence beside the Église Saint Médard,   located on the southern end of rue Mouffetard.

One of the oldest churches on the Left Bank, I especially love this church for it's beautiful palm tree shaped pillars and of course the colorful and more contemporary stained glass windows by artist Jean Renée Bazaine created in 1970. We revisited this special church this last November. It is one of my favorites.

In June 2009, our apartment had the spectacular view of the Val-de-Gras church from our windows. I attended services there on two occasions, something I will never forget. While sitting in the back of the church before the services began, I noticed this lady and quietly snapped her photo.

Temple Marais, a protestant reform church since 1802 was formerly St. Mary of the Angels ( built in 1632).  It is rarely open to the public during the week, hence the only photograph I have.  I just LOVE the red front doors!

Taken from high atop the Centre Georges Pompidou (through the glass), a view of the Église Saint-Eustache   that one doesn't normally see. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself for identifying this lovely Paris church, which geographically is a lot farther away than it appears.

I have visited the Église Saint Paul - Saint Louis in the Marais many times. I always like to use the 

side entrance which opens onto this charming little alley.

Paris Rouge XLIX - Les Géraniums

If you slip out the side door of the Église Saint Paul - Saint Louis in the Marais, you find yourself on this nice little walkway to the street. I usually try and exit this way. Interesting little courtyards all the way. I'd like to be invited in.  One day peut-être.

Sunday Church Series - La Sainte-Chapelle

Oh this is one place you must visit when you visit Paris. I have only been once and it was an overcast day in November, 2008.  It was still breathtaking, and I won't ever forget it.  Today another view.

Église Saint Séverin

Today's Sunday Church Series takes us back to the beautiful Saint Séverin in the Latin Quarter. I've shown you many photographs from inside, but this last visit we all stuck our cameras through the iron fence to capture the lovely courtyard and flowers growing there. It always amazes me how many delightful things I discover when I revisit places in Paris. I had never noticed this lovely angle before. ( I have another one to share later on!)
