If you have take Metro Abbesses to Montmartre, you have surely visited Square Jihan Rictus nearby. There you can gaze on the lovely wall of love. Conceived by Frédéric Baron, who collected over 1,000 the words I Love You in over 300 languages. He asked Claire Kito, an artist and oriental calligrapher to write the words. Then Daniel Boulogne created the mural of tiles. If you have not seen t his lovely mural, put it on your To Do List.

This beautiful building, located very close to Trocadéro, is devoted to arts and Asian cultures was built in 1889. I have not personally visited this museum, and would love to hear from my dear readers who have.

Merveilleux de Fred

As we rushed down the street, near the Hôtel de Ville, I caught sight of this beautiful shop. I mistakenly took it to be a boulangerie, but have found, thanks to several readers that this is the famous Merveilleux de Fred and they specialize in the most divine confections made of meringues and whipped cream. Please visit their website to read their story. I have since written to request permission to photograph their shop in more detail when I visit next month. I have my fingers crossed!

Les balcons à Paris

It is no secret that November in Paris is a favorite of mine. I try and reassure friends that the leaves are turning a fabulous golden yellow, but also, the flowers on the balconies are still spilling over in reckless abandon. I don't know WHAT they feed those geraniums. Today a photo taken last Novenber 14th. I rest my case.

The Cimetière des Chiens is a dear little cemetery dedicated to much loved pets of all kinds. It's a trek there but well worth it. Cher Boby, much loved and memorialized with not only a lovely marker but the porcelain flowers that grace the finest cemeteries in Paris.

Art On The Go

Near Place du Tertre, the artist hangout in Montmartre, I spotted this artist sketching right on the street. If you are talented enough to do it without an easel, I suppose it saves rental space on the Place. 

Le pigeon

This pigeon was standing guard at the Musée Carnavalet in the Marais, on chilly January day. This is the history of Paris museum and is free to the public except for special exhibits. 

Poilâne

One benefit of renting an apartment on rue du Cherche - Midi was that Poilâne's flagship boulangerie was just a few doors down the street. I wrote ahead requesting permission to photograph and quel surprise, they granted me a short appointment. Down the winding steps to the ovens that have been baking their famous round sourdough loaves with the signature P since 1932. Of course we took home a loaf and enjoyed the hearty break with beurre et fromage every night! Merci to the friendly employees who allowed us to have a look around and take some photographs. A Paris experience I won't forget.

It's no secret that I was not a fan of cemeteries until I started traveling with Mary Gilbert. Then,  between Peter Olson and Owen Phillps, I became a convert. This trip Mary and I will be traveling with our friend Phil Nuxhall, Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetery historian. Taking odds on how many I"ll visit?  Today, Cimetière du Père-Lachaise of course.

A Little Sax In Paris

This combo plays at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Germain , right by the church, most days. Street musicians, something that makes Paris so special. It seems there's music everywhere you go.

RER Line B, St. Michel/Notre Dame. After a very long morning from CDG arriving at this stop was a welcome sight. Shortly after snapping this photo, I arrived at the steps leading up to Notre Dame and a downpour. C'est la vie.

Home For Lunch

The schools in Paris let out for over an hour each day for lunch. Many children go home for lunch. This petite jeune fille is going with her maman.

Gilding the Lily

As if the majestic la Fontaine du Médicis isn't beautiful enough, they fill the urn to overflowing with golden mums. I think Paris in autumn is the best!

Paris Rouge - Losco

I stumbled on this custom belt shop in the Marais one day and have been back since for more photos. The second trip, I had to do a bit of negotiating with them but was in the end, allowed to take a few more. I have no idea how much their custom belts cost, but it's a lovely place to visit just to see the beautiful leather strips and exquisite buckles. The workbench caught my eye as well.

Also known as the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, it is open sporadically for special exhibits. It is currently closed but will reopen November 7, 2015. The new exhibit "Fashion Recovered. Dresses treasures of Countess Greffhulhe, closes March 20, 2016.

A Rainy Day in Paris

Last November, these Parisians, and I'm sure a few tourists, waited patiently in the cold and rain. outside the Hôtel de Ville.   It was worth the wait to view the fabulous Brassai exhibit during Paris Photo. No secret why I love Paris in November.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Shelter
