Le grand escalier

Musée Jacquemart-André, one of the smaller museums in Paris is a good choice if you've done the large ones or it's high tourist season.

The Centre Georges Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou is not my most favorite museum in Paris but it's a space that should be visited. It's inside out architecture , it opened in 1977.  There are always a number of contemporary exhibits and the view from the top is stunning.

Musée avec vue

In my opinion, one of the best kept secrets in Paris is Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine  (architecture and monument museum). Located near the Palais de Chaillot, it's most convenient when visiting la Tour Eiffel. As you can see, this museum offers commanding views but it is without a doubt a must see on your next visit.

Paris jaune - Fondation Louis Vuitton

I visited the fabulous Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2016. I'd like to share a few more photographs from that trip with you this week. It took me several visits to Paris to finally get there,  but it was well worth the effort. I  highly recommend if you have time on your next trip to Paris.

Today I finally rejoin James' Weekend Reflections. Click HERE to see all the other wonderful images.

Musée de la mode

For  years,  when we walked by, I always pressed my nose against the gate hoping one day this beautiful museum would open again. Well, the good news it is it reopened in September 2013, and we were able to tour an exhibit that November. Formally called the Musée de la  mode de la ville de Paris, it's known as the Palais Galleria.  Of note, it is only open for temporary fashion exhibits, so please check the website before you go. Located near the Contemporary Museum  and Palais Tokyo, it's worth a short walk. A fashion museum in Paris. How perfect.

Museum of Asian Arts

Musée national des arts asiatiques Guimet is considered one of the finest collection of Asian art and  civilizations. After 14 trips to Paris, I'm convinced it's impossible to visit all of the outstanding museums and galleries the city offers. This museum, located near Trocadéro and the Palais Chaillot, is just one of an exceptional concentration of fine museums in the area.

Fermé

The Musée Carnavalet, the history of Paris museum, is closed for restorations until at least 2019. Located in the Marais, you should put it on your list when it reopens.

Through The Lens

I have always loved photographing through these unusual windows of the Musée Carnavalet. Usually, I like them in color, but this one seemed to work in BW for a change

C'est magique!

Many friends contact me for advice on what to see in Paris to make the most of their time there. For those only in Paris for a few days,  I usually recommend a smaller museum and then to see la Pyramide du Louvre at night. C'est magique!

Le Musée Carnavalet

Located in the heart of the Marais, the Musée Carnavalet tells the history of Paris.  Not only that but you can stroll its beautiful gardens.  One of the few free museums (except for special exhibits), it should find a place on your Paris To Do List.

Le fenêtre de cercles

The Musée Caranavalet, the history of Paris museum, is located in the Marais and free except of course,  for special exhibits.  It's a lovely museum with beautiful gardens.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - The Best of 2013

Oh January's theme is usually easy for me as I always have one special photo from the year but this time I was torn. I decided to choose this image of the Louvre. That morning in Paris, the wind  had blown and poured rain.  The forecast said rain. all. day. long.  As Mary and I were having lunch, I looked out the café window and saw blue skies and the sun shining. A magical Paris moment. We hurried to the Palais Royal first and then the Louvre. My offering as my favorite photograph for 2013.

Asleep On The Job

Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, centrally located near the Eiffel Tower is a wonderful museum that I have visited several times. This day, I think we caught the guard.... off guard!
( And in case you're wondering, these were huge black lemons!)

Le Coureur

I'm not sure. Do you think he was preparing for a run around le Centre Pompidou or to sprint up the steps of the escalator??

L'escalier

The beautiful Musée Jacquemart-André  located in this gorgeous 19th Century mansion contains an impressive collection of paintings, sculpture and tapestries.  Not as well known as many other museums in Paris but certainly worth a visit.
