Cour Carrée du Louvre

I bought a lovely little book years ago titled Quiet Corners Of Paris. Organized by arrondissement, it features often overlooked places in Paris that you can seek out free of charge. The Cour Carrée is the first one listed. It mentions that the idea of a QUIET place in one of the most visited places in Paris might seem unusual, but it's true. Most visitors enter via the Cour Carrousel side and it's teeming with visitors almost any time of the year. This "square courtyard" is best entered from the side of St. Germain-l'Suxerrois on rue de l'Armiral-de-Coligny. The architecture is of course spectacular and next trip, I might find a spot to sit and just enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle.

Café Marly

Bienvenue á la Café Marly! I've not gotten any further inside than right here (c'est dommage), but I think there is a glass of champagne in there somewhere with my name written all over it! Once inside you can have a sip from a front row seat of la Pyramide ! What could be more wonderful, especially at night? Café Marly has just jumped to the top of my To Do list for my next visit.

Cour Carrée - le Louvre

This photograph was taken from an upstairs window at le Louvre. It started to lightly snow soon after but those photos weren't what I had hoped! I like this view of the renovated Cour Carrée. I don't think most tourists use this entrance, instead they enter on the other side near la Pyramide. I think the people scattered about adds a little something to this typical tourist shot. Well I hope it does anyway!

Night Moves

Last night I revisited the fabulous Louvre after dark. Peter and I did a night shoot back in June , but I was anxious to have another chance. This is probably on of the most magical places in Paris in the evening. We didn't want Janet and Maya to miss it. This time I tried to find something a little different to photograph. Again, these were shot without a tripod. Sorry Fabrizio, I know I should not try these without one, but this was a last minute decision, and we weren't prepared with all the right "stuff"!

Today we "jumped the pond" and arrived in Birmingham at about 5:30 pm.  Yes, I'm still up and approaching 24 hours. I'll crash momentarily but wanted you to know that from now, till I return to France in July, I will just be posting 3-4 assorted photos a day. Tonight? Well who knows what I'll pick.  We had a wonderful month in France, the children were troopers and Melissa and I were most of the time! ha Thank you all for following our travels. It has been a wonderful experience sharing it with you from day to day.

Night at the Museum

It's really late , and I'm just getting my photos downloaded from my night shoot with Peter. We had a grand time photographing the fabulous Louvre and the surrounding area tonight! We also walked along the Seine and were lucky enough to wind up our evening before the rain really set in. I'll let the photos speak for themselves tonight!

For Bob Crowe and Snapper, who I know are wondering about tripods etc., let me just add these are hand held except when I used Peter as my "human tripod". I am thinking that might be his new career!
