Life on the Mètro

A violin player hopped on our Metro with his makeshift boom box strapped to cart and the obligatory cup for donations. This sweet girl asked her papa for some change to put in the cup.

I will presenting a phototalk on STREET PHOTOGRAPHY for the Shades Vallely Camera Club this coming Thursday, January 17 at 6:30 PM at the Vestavia Hills Library. The club graciously opens their meetings for visitors. I hope to see many of my Birmingham readers and fellow photographers there!

Le musicien de rue

I would be curious to know if the musician drew that message or just chose this spot to make  his music.

Musique sur le pont

The Pont des Arts, a pedestrian bridge,  is always alive with musicians, artists and other creative Parisians.  This friendly gentleman's music added to our stroll across to the Left Bank.

More Sax in Paris

Montmartre

la Louvre

You can find street musicians all over Paris, even in the Metros. I've shared a sax player on the Seine here. Today, two more. You can't have too much sax in Paris in my opinion!

Ahhh, a Little Sax in Paris

French Stranger #41

I love a lot of things about Paris, but the street musicians are right up there near the top of the list! Strolling along the river one afternoon, Peter and I heard the soulful music of a saxaphone but couldn't find the source. Finally curiosity got the best of us, so we went down the stairway to the water's edge and found this musician under the bridge playing all alone. A delightful discovery. Paris, je t'aime!

I am pleased to share some good news. Two of my Paris street portraits are being featured on Parisien Salon.com! This is a terrific site that I visit every day. Please give it a look.

Dancing in the Street

Gisèle and Michel
If you are in Paris early on a Sunday afternoon, you need to make your way to the rue Mouffetard Market. On the sidewalk by the church, a group of musicians gather, song sheets are passed around, and everyone sings along while couples dance !!! This probably ranks right up there at the top of my "Favorite Paris Moments" list. Ohhh la la. What fun we had!!

Merci to Starman for suggesting this song! Click here.
