Sourire

I think Mary and I agree that finding a Métro with an escalator is a fine day in Paris! Our friend Peter Olson, is able to climb Métro stairs all day long.

Un, deux, trois fenêtres

Always look up. You are never disappointed in Paris.

Playing in Paris - La Tour Eiffel, Mumsie!

I don't know if there are sweeter memories of Paris than this day when Eva and Davis visited la Tour Eiffel for the first time. We had a lovely picnic close by and then we discovered this little playground.

Playing in Paris - Follow the Leader

June 2009, we were in Paris along with our Birmingham friends, the Wilson's. This grand afternoon Eva, Davis, Katherine and Ethan had so much fun parading around the Pol Bury Fountain at the Palais Royal. Later, they ran and played in the dirt building a little fairy house in the gardens. A very special time for all of us.

Playing in Paris - Le bac à sable

Yesterday's City Daily Photo's Theme was PLAY. While searching through the files for an appropriate  photo, I found several that I think I'll share for a few days. Y

This petit garçon was having fun digging in the sandbox despite the need for a winter coat in Novemb er. This was taken in the sweet little playground on the grounds of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés church.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Play

Pas de cadenas d'amour!

The Pont des Arts has always been one of my favorite Paris bridges. This pedestrian bridge built in 1804 has stood the test of time until recent years.  I always enjoyed the street artists and musicians found there. In later years, the bridge became a disaster, loaded to the breaking point with "love" locks and lock salesmen preying on tourists. Eventually the City of Paris had to close the bridge, remove the 45 tons of locks and eventually were able to replace them with glass panels which are hopefully, lock proof. Now we can enjoy the beautiful view again!

Bateaux de Paris - The Julia

While participating in a street photography class with Meredith Mullins in 2014, I spotted Monsieur as he unloaded groceries to his houseboat, The Julia. I walked up and introduced myself and boldly asked if I could see his boat. He graciously told me after he was done, I was welcome. Unfortunately, I had to move on and never got that opportunity. It was lovely meeting him.  I took the next photo from the bridge.

Perhaps one day I'll get back there and maybe have the chance to sit and have a chat!

Bateaux de Paris - Bleu, rouge et blanc

Today, the second in my Bateaux de Paris series. It was a lovely blue sky morning in Paris. Unfortunately, the last month and a half has not been so sunny in Paris.

Bateaux de Paris - Marie-Jeanne

Today begins another little mini-series. This last trip I focused my lens on the variety of boats tied up along the Seine. I hope you will enjoy this collection!

Chess in the Gardens

I have been photographing the chess players in Luxembourg Gardens for years. For the most part, it's the same men, deep in thought, no nonsense. Not this day!

Through the Door

Janvier 2010, we awoke to a light snowfall in Paris. It was nothing like the lovely snow they have had this week but I tried to get the most of it. Here from Place des Vosges, looking towards Hôtel Sully.

Neige encore à Paris!

This was taken years ago at the American Cathedral in Paris. Today as Paris is still dealing with flooding along the Seine, they are getting another snowfall. I am so jealous!

Ferme

Due to inclement weather, the outside seating at the Jardin du Palais Royal was closed. Quelle dommage.

This photograph and many others will be featured in my upcoming photography exhibit at Independent Presbyterian Church during the month of February. For details about next week's Religious Arts Festival, click HERE

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Tired

Here I am, parked in a green Paris chair, feet propped up on the edge of the fountain, at my favorite place, le Jardin du Palais Royal. Sigh........ This is where I come to relax in this quiet place, and just enjoy every minute I'm in Paris. It's also my getaway for a rest from all the walking!
