Paris Rouge - Boats Along the Seine

This photo was taken as I leaned over the wall to photograph boats tied up along the Seine on a sunny day last November. This past week of flooding is very concerning.

Sunday Paris Church Series - Notre Dame de Paris

While photographing Notre Dame organist Vincent Dubois last November, he was kind enough to take Mary and me to this "gallery" to photograph. This is an area that the public is not allowed and was empty except for some pews along the side. This allowed for some wonderful photographs with an unusual point of view.

Tiny Beggars

Square Boucicaut is adjacent to Bon Marché and our Metro stop, Sèvre Babylone, so I often poked my head in to see what was  happening. It's a quiet little park where you often see people enjoying their lunch or children playing on the playground, and in fine weather the carrousel. This afternoon a few ducks showed up for a handout. To my knowledge there is no pond, so I"m wondering where they came from. Seasoned beggars that they were, they knew who to look in the eye!

Paris Bleu

To be honest, the only time I'm really Paris bleu, is when I'm leaving!

Beaucoup de boutons

Ultramod mercerie is one of my favorite shops in Paris. It's old school, like everything in Paris. The buttons are in old cardboard boxes, ribbons on rolls, trim and thread on old wooden rolls. I love this place more than I can say. I have photographed this shop many times. I will always go back.

Sunset On The Roof

If you've never experienced sunset on the roof of Galeries Lafayette, you need to put it on your to do list. The balloon was a special effect for the Christmas season, but it's lovely to look over the Opera, rooftops and of course la tour Eiffel!

Musée Rodin - Muedon

The fall leaves in as a backdrop made the sculpture even more beautiful.

Chez Rodin

Auguste Rodin purchased this home in the town of Muedon,in 1896 and lived and worked here, although he continued to work in Paris as well. There are a few rooms, including this dining room, his bedroom and bath,  as well as a small studio that you can visit. On a lower level is a museum featuring many of his familiar work overlooking his burial site. We visited on the 100th Anniversary of his death.

For those of you with the time to get outside of the city I would recommend this side trip. We took the Metro to the town, took a cab up the  hill to the museum and walked back down. We had a lovely lunch, visited the marché then we took the Metro back into Paris.

Sunday Paris Church Series - View From the Organ Loft

Last November, with thanks to Dr. Jeff McLelland, Music Director at Independent Presbyterian Church, for the introduction, I was so fortunate to meet Vincent Dubois,  organist at Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris. I was invited by Vincent to sit in the organ loft and photograph during the mass.

Rêves de Fleurs

As Mary, Owen and I strolled through the village of Senlis,  we were charmed by this lovely outdoor courtyard at Rêves de Fleurs. I adore this shabby, delightful, oh so French collection.

C'est Paris

I'm certain, after all these trips, that I will never tire of Paris windows and flowers. And lanterns. And shutters....

Le marcheur

I am fairly certain that I have photographed Madame walking along the quai near the Louvre in 2014. It's uncanny how many times I discover images of Parisians I recognize from previous trips. Come back tomorrow and I'll share the photo and you can be the judge.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Photograph of the Year

The first day of the month is always Theme Day for City Daily photobloggers around the world. January 1 is historically the time we choose our favorite photo of the year. I chose this shot taken at one of the entrances to the Louvre. Rim light is hard to catch and I especially liked the way it highlighted the two friends. I also liked the long shadows on the  cobblestones.

I encourage your to visit the CDP website HERE to see all the other favorites from around our world. If you are a photographer on any level, I encourage to consider joining this friendly community of photobloggers. I started with my Birmingham blog in 2008 and later added my Paris one. It's a great way to showcase your city or town no matter how large or small. The added plus is that it encourages you to get out in your community and shoot more!
