Tromp l'oeil
The elegant Hôtel de Crillon at Place de la Concorde, has been undergoing extensive renovations. Built in 1758, it has been a luxury hotel since 1909. It closed it's doors in 2013 for the renovations and is scheduled to reopen in 2017. During this restoration process, this lovely tromp l'oeil screen was erected to hide the day to day construction from view.

Les lettres
You could easily spend an entire day poking through the treasures and oddities at Tombées du Camion ( fallen off the truck) at the Marché aux Puces. It really defies description! Years ago Mary, Peter and I found the shop first shop tucked away in Montmartre ( 17 rue Joseph de Maistre, Paris 75018). This last trip, while photographing the Marché aux Puces, we stumbled on two more stalls there. The sheer volume of the tiny treasures could be overwhelming but each shop is incredibly organized to make your search much easier. There are crates upon crates of letters in all sizes and styles. A photographer's buffet!

L'opéra Bastille
Opened in 1989, this contemporary structure, designed by Carlos Ott, is in stark contrast to the elaborate Opéra Garnier. I will admit that it is not one of my favorites, and the fact that the city of Paris does not maintain it as well as the Opéra Garnier, certainly doesn't enhance its austere façade,

Sunday Church Series - Saint Severin
I hope I'm never asked to rank my favorite Paris churches because I would be torn between so many that I've visited over and over. Each one has special features and details that I cherish. This sweet angel at Église Saint Severin is one. The patina makes me think many have walked by and just had to put a hand on her sweet face.

Sunday Church Series - Le plafond
The ceiling of the Église Saint-Pantaleon in Troyes, France was obviously in need of repair but the vaulted wooden ceiling is remarkable considering the church dates to the 16th century. Note the dove hanging in the center.

Monsieur
Sometimes, I carefully pull out my camera in order to capture a very special Paris moment. This photograph brings back wonderful memories of a lovely lunch with my friend Keri, just hours after I'd arrived in Paris. I was tired, bleary eyed, and we walked in a pouring rain, but so grateful to be there having the most delicious lunch with her at Cuisine de Philippe!

CDP Theme Day - Black and White in Color
Today, the first of the month, means my City Daily Photobloggers around the world are posting a photo on this month's theme, BLACK AND WHITE IN COLOR! This was an interesting theme although not so easy. I snapped this while making a metro/bus connection last November at La Defense. It was my first visit and I was disappointed that I couldn't get closer due to construction issues. C'est la vie!
