Pas de photos Papa!

It had been pouring rain all morning and the sun came out at noon.  All of Paris hit the streets this Sunday afternoon.  This little guy had just had enough of Papa's photo shoot at the Louvre.  Bless his heart.

Redoublement

When I teach composition to my photography students, I point out repeating patterns.  I think focusing on details such as these at the Louvre, makes travel photographs so much more interesting.

Reminiscing

It's no secret that I haunt Place des Vosges every chance I get.   I loved the color and textures of the walls and arch.  It made me smile. Thank you for indulging me.

Les cadenas

L'Artisan Parfumeur, in the Marais is a favorite of mine.  This last trip they had adorned their window with this nod to the Locks of Love on many of the Paris bridges.

Sunday Church Series - La Cour

L'église Saint-Madeleine in Sens, France is a lovely church although in need of much repair.  In the smaller towns, there just aren't the funds for the upkeep these beautiful old churches require. This  garden courtyard beside the church, was a delightful surprise, full of green and all white flowers, well planned and kept.  A beautiful place to sit and enjoy this July afternoon.

Les escargots, svp

I'll be honest, my first taste was a big stretch for me.  Let's just say I had to take my mind to another place and just focus on the garlic and butter.  After the first one, I felt as if I'd been initiated into the Parisian Club.  Bon appétit!

Les Ombres

Late on a cold Sunday afternoon in January,  the pétanque players were still at it. I'm thinking that probably the only thing that keeps them home might be rain and snow!

New Kid on the Block

As museums go, the Musée Quai Branly is a newcomer.  Close to la Tour Eiffel, facing the Seine this museum opened in 2006 and features indigenous art, cultures, and civilizations from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. Designed by Jean Nouvel, whose Green Wall is part of the exterior, this is a new museum to add to your long list.

Avec beaucoup de couleurs

L'Oisive Thé is a very special shop in the Butte-aux-Cailles neighborhood.  I found this shop online and it is the very special mix of thé and yarn!!  For a knitter, this was too good to be true. The owner is an ex-pat so we could converse. Mary and I had thé and a yummy cookie but the salads looked amazing. It's on my next To Do list as I'm knitting again and some Parisian yarn would be very fun to have.

We stopped in on a chilly January day so sitting outside was not an option.  Sad because look how colorful these chairs are!

Un massage de la rue

This Sunday you could stop on rue Mouffetard and get a quick massage for whatever you chose to give. Monsieur made my back feel much better. I was most grateful.

Quoi ???

This adorable boy, who you have met before, stopped jumping from column to column and became fixated on something we could not see.  Now that I have time to study the photograph, I think he was looking through the metal grilles to the water below.  Perhaps he spotted the coins below, thrown by Parisian lovers?

Faire attention !

The cobblestoned pathways at Cimetière Pére Lachaise terrified me.  I was certain that despite my very sensible walking shoes, I was going to turn my ankle and get to see first hand how the French health care system really works.  I spotted these two very fashionable ladies dressed in their beautiful high heeled boots and just gazed in amazement and appreciation. How do they do it??

Aller et venir

Ma Bourgogne, Place des Vosges

I needed to crop my chère amie Mary's shoulder out of this in the bottom right, then decided on BW and voilà,  it was then that I really noticed the man and woman walking in opposite directions.  Once the color was not a distraction, it became so apparent.

Paris Rouge - Theatre Rive Gauche

Located in the 14 arrondissement, Theatre Rive Gauche certainly has one of the loveliest façades I've seen. I've never been to a French movie theatre, maybe this will be my first.

S'il Vous Plait et Merci

I saw a photo on Facebook this week.  It was a Parisian chalkboard outside a café.  It said, " Un Café 2 euro. Un café s'il vous plait 1.80 euro!!!  When anyone asks me about  Paris,  I always start with, "Bonjour, merci et s'il vous plait."  It works every time.

These letters brought to you by one of my favorite shops in Paris, MERCI, bien sûr.

Le chapeau

Le Bar Fleuri,  in the 19 arrondissemnet is a neighborhood bistro.  We had a delightful café with our new friend Joseph Hocine, from L'ecole des Fleuristes here last January.  This is the kind of family owned place we love to find in Paris.  Just locals, nothing fancy.

Decidedly not the best quality photograph I've ever posted, but it fit our City Daily Photo Theme perfectly, which of course is PINK!
