Where else can you have a lovely cup of thé or a delicious déjuener AND buy yarn and knitting supplies at the same time? Why L'oisive Thé in Butte aux Cailles, of course. This charming shop was a true delight. It's easy to find right on rue de la Butte aux Cailles.

I Love This Place

It's been a few years since Mary and I trekked to the charming Butte aux Cailles neighborhood to find L'Oisive Thé. Owned by an American, this lovely shop combines yarn and knitting supplies with a thé and coffee shop offering delicious breakfast and lunch offerings made in the tiniest kitchen I"ve ever seen!

L'Oisive Thé is a very special shop in the Butte-aux-Cailles neighborhood.  I found this shop online and it is the very special mix of thé and yarn!!  For a knitter, this was too good to be true. The owner is an ex-pat so we could converse. Mary and I had thé and a yummy cookie but the salads looked amazing. It's on my next To Do list as I'm knitting again and some Parisian yarn would be very fun to have.

We stopped in on a chilly January day so sitting outside was not an option.  Sad because look how colorful these chairs are!

The gentlemen next to us ordered this delicious brioche. I took one look and all I saw was Munch's "The Scream".

I learned about this charming shop from another Paris blog months before my trip last January.  I contacted Aimee, the owner ( who is an American) and told her to expect us.  We found the shop at 10 rue de la Butte aux Cailles our last day in Paris.  We arrived a bit early ( it opens at 12:00) which gave us time to stroll the neighborhood and take a lot of wonderful photographs.  Once inside, we ordered our tea and I took as many photographs as I could between sips.  As you can see, Aimee not only serves tea,  but colorful yarns as well. What a terrific combination!

100 French Strangers #78 - Josué

It's been a while since I posted one of my *French Strangers.  This last trip in January I found several.  Today the friendly cook at L'Oisive Thé et Tricot in the Butte aux Cailles neighborhood.  He makes some delicous meals in that tiny little kitchen!  I first heard about this delightful tea and knit shop from another Paris blog.  I contacted Aimée, the charming owner via Facebook and told her to expect us in January.  Mary and I had a delightful cup of tea there while I popped up and down taking photos the whole time.  Not to worry, you'll meet Aimée and we'll have a longer look around the shop soon.

* For you newcomers to my blog, the 100 Strangers Challenge originated on Flickr. Its purpose to challenge photographers to become more at ease approaching a stranger and asking to take their picture. I started on my B'ham blog and reached 100 long ago. I've had such fun meeting strangers in France, I took up the challenge there.  I have found the French to be as warm and willing to have their photographs taken as those right here in my hometown.
