Un dernier regard

Our last afternoon in Paris on Tuesday,  Mary took me to the rooftop of Galeries Lafayette.  What a spectacular way to end our week in Paris.  It was almost sunset and the view took my breath.

Such a melancholic picture tinged with sadness, and yet still full of hope for your return encore une fois.

La Dame de fer nous attend toujours... peut-être que lors de votre prochain séjours à Paris nous pourrions nous y rencontrer...
Gros bisous

The last look is always the most beautiful.
You take away with you that last image.

The B&W is lovely and portrays the melancholy mood well but I would love to see the sunset in color. Beautiful parting shot ... Well done, Mary!

wpuld be AWESOME ..
I love to make pics at Toomers corner. It is at least as exotic to me as Paris to you !
will actually be ONLY driving thru Tiger town in the afternoon of February 7 from Atlanta to Thomasville. The trip goes ATl, Lagrange, Opelika, Tiger town, Tuskegee, Montgomery etc.
Let me get back to you.. I will ask my "gorgeousness" what is on the schedule on Febr 8, 9 and 10.. (return to Brussels on the 11th) maybe I will be closer to you... who knows.. Maybe Selma or Tuscaloosa.??.
Would like to return to those places for pictures (not for This is Belgium)

Oh Virginia! I feel si triste. I always have tears when leaving. If this majestic sunset was the only image it was still worth the flight. Can't wait to see many more.

That nice looking landscape pales in comparison to your great beauty...

P.S. I´m starting to forget Paris-cannot recognize that green roof in front of the ET! Madeleine? Odeon?

SOS s.v.p.

A beautiful photo of you... I can feel the joy.
This needs to be blown up and put over your fireplace. We'll find a new place for the map :-)

Both shots—color AND b&w—are stunning! This was said of Venice (by François Mauriac), but think you might agree that it applies to Paris too: You don't leave it, you tear yourself away.

A photo that will transcend the years for you!

Virginia said...

Maria, I don't know if I know the roof but i"m guessing Madeleine.

GeneMarine, thank you for your comment. You are right. Every photograph is a precious memory for me.

It is a perfect wrap-up shot to finish your most recent trip to Paris. It is not fair that you have all of that gorgeous hair and I am . . . ahem . . . challenged.

Virginia said...

Jack I answered that via an email to you. Most of the time my hair is downright scary in Paris!!!
