When strolling the streets of Paris, sometimes I stop and engage with people on the street. Other times I photograph Parisians who are oblivious to me and my camera. I really enjoy both. This day, this bouquiniste had such an engaging smile, I stopped to chat. He was happy to pose with the book he was reading en anglais ! I encourage everyone to try street photography. It enriches my travels in so many ways.

Agreed! I enjoyed seeing this photo. I have to admit that when I pass by bouquinistes I kind of put my blinders on. This photo changed my perspective.
I think it's brave to ask for a photo of a person, yet this man surely seems happy to oblige. Great picture!
What a great face! I bet he does well!
Good portrait!
There is a real art to engaging with and photographing strangers. One you have mastered V.
Another great people shot! I can see just enough of the book your subject is holding to discern the head of a dog (Golden Retriever?) on its cover, but even when I enlarge the photograph, I cannot make out its title or author. Can you see, or do you remember, the title of that book?
On a related note, I have found that the two good ways for me to connect with people on the streets of urban places everywhere is by taking photographs or by walking a friendly-looking dog. If I also have an open, relaxed and positive expression on my face, every city or town I visit feels like the friendliest place in the world.
I'm on a Macbook Air and I can open the photo in a new tab, and the picture is bigger. The title is "Le gout des jeunes filles" which is ... interesting. I haven't heard of it. I can't make out the author's name.
This fellow does indeed bring a smile! He looks charming.
