Une photo de moi!

I first visited E Dehellerin in the summer of 2009.  I met and became instant friends with the gentleman on the right. He'd met some ladies from Birmingham once and when he heard I was from there, he said, "Madame, when I come to Birmingham, what is the first thing I should see?"  My answer...."Moi!"  He loved that and was nice enough to pose outside for photos.  When I returned this last January, I took him the photo.  Here you can see he was proudly showing it to his co-workers.

OMG you crack me up! You have captured these characters perfectly. Aren't they fun? For the 20 years I have shopped at Dehillerin they have always been there!

How quick witted you are, Virginia! I think I would have been tongue tied if asked that question. It's a great photo. He and the others certainly look like they think its pretty great too!

This is an instant friend-maker, break-the-ice, and language-equalizer. Peter even got shots of me taking photos to my former portrait subjects. There is nothing like seeing "the lights come on" in another's eyes when they see a photo of themselves.

We are definitely on the same wave length today!

So expressive—and even better when you go back and see what it is they're looking at!

Virginia,

I'm leaving for Paris Wednesday, and E. Dehellerin is one of the stores I wanted to check out. Is it within walking distance to the Louvre?

I was in the Birmingham Botanical Garden in Feb. Unfortunately, it was too early for the cherry blossoms. Oh well.

Funny and touching story with a sequel. So the Strangers # x,y,z are not strangers any more. How good to find the same faces at the same place some time later down the road and meet a friendly smile...
