Mercredi at the Palais Royal II

Back in November 2008, I took a walk to the * Palais Royal and found this delightful scene.  School's out in Paris on Wednesdays so the children take advantage of some much needed free time.  I can't imagine how wonderful it must be to take a ball and go to the Palais Royal for a quick soccer game with friends!  As Peter and I left our green chairs by the fountain,  I spotted yet another group of fun loving boys. I think the boy on the left could be one that I photographed 3 years ago. Maybe, but still nice to see this group having such fun in such an historic place.

* For you that are very familiar with the Palais Royal, you might have spotted the temporary walls around the Pol Bury fountains.  More on that later!

School's out on Wednesdays? Those eccentric Parisians. ;) Wouldn't it be fun if that was the same young man as before. Lovely scene, V.

I wonder if those lads have any idea of the magnificent place they are kicking a ball...!

Why is school out on Wednesday? Do the kids go to religious instruction the way kids in my grade school did back in the dark ages?

From what I understand, their school day is much much longer than here in the states and lots of homework after. I think the day of is when they are able to take music, dance etc. lessons. They also get lunch time off and the parents come and pick them up and take them home as well. I've noticed on Wed. you see many grandparents with the children in the parks etc.

I think that this boy just could be your little guy from three years ago... If he lives nearby this could be his regular stomping grounds. Isn't that amazing!

I had an exchange student from Paris. She said her elementary school ran laps around Champs de Mars in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. She said she thought it was a very normal place to do this!

Way to enjoy your day off, boys! (And nicely captured, V!) When I lived here a zillion years ago, the day off was Thursday.

I'll wager these boys have no idea of the historical relevance of this place. To them, it's just a playground.
