Le Marais. I wish I knew how the love affair began, but it's not ended. I think I loved it from my first visit in 2007 when Melissa, Eva and I wandered all over in search of the
Musée Picasso! After that, the photography tour in 2008, then........... well it reached fever pitch last June when I stayed there for over a week. It must be my favorite place in Paris, among many others of course. It feels like home now.
Today, we go back to my much photographed
Musée Carnavalet. Paris' history museum, is very special and although I don't always go in and tour the entire museum I always find some delightful finds, inside and out. This is a shot from a window taken in January '10. The colors of the walls, the garden... parfait.

The woven wood edging is wonderful -- and I love the peek at the bronze on the wall -- it makes it seem that the rider on horseback is coming in to visi the garden.
The garden boxes are very cool with their woven sticks edging! Nice snap at the Musee Carnavalet, V!

I have so enjoyed your blog over the last few months. I have never been to Paris (or anywhere in Europe) but your blog makes me feel as though I have. Thank you for sharing your photos. I really love this picture with the little gardens. Their borders are fantastic. The raised bed gardening that comes originally from France is my favorite gardening style.
I wondered at first if this was a herb garden Virginia, if so how nice would it be to sit on one of the benches and take in the aroma!
The Musee Carnavalet is one of my favorite places, too. The color tones in this photo fit perfectly with our overcast sky in Charleston this morning. Love the low fences outlining the beds - so natural.

For those who love the woven stick fences be sure to visit Musé Cluny. The woven fences in their Garden are almost 3 feet tall! They are a wonder!
Certainly un jardin for all seasons, and even in the winter months it is beautiful with its muted gray-greens complimented by the stone walls. Beautiful!

Hey, I saw this little kitchen garden when I was there in March. So charming. I would like to move into the Musée Carnavalet—but don't worry, V, I'd invite you to come stay in one of the reproduction period rooms!
I have also a love affair with the Marais! I don´t know how many times I have already passed the Musée Carnavalet. I´ve been there only twice, the first time many, many year ago, the second time for the Louis Vuitton exhibition last November.
Come on, Virginia, which part of Paris do you NOT love???
