Notre rue

For a number of years, I've stayed in a lovely apartment on rue du Cherche-Midi in the 6th arrondissement. I think so often we just march down the streets without looking up. I'm happy I looked up this day.

If you'd like more information about this apartment, please email me.

Les balustrades

Next time you're near Notre Dame, pop in to the Hôtel Dieu de Paris for a look. You won't want to check in as it's the oldest hospital in Paris (651).  You are free to roam around the inner courtyard and photograph. Hopefully you own't need their services!

En construction - à venir

Sadly, my first visit to Paris in 2007 was after the grand magasin, La Samaritaine, had already closed so I never experienced her former glory. This last trip, I was thrilled to see that she is now under renovations. Click here to see what's planned. Built in 1869, this Art Deco beauty will be brought back to life in new and exciting ways. The reopening is planned for 2018, so  I"m hoping to see it!

Paris Photo 2017

If you are in Paris the second weekend in November, you must see Paris Photo. Held in the Grand Palais for three days, it's well worth the 30 euros! I FINALLY was able to see it this last trip. It's an amazing visual overload of photography. So worth it.

Les ombres

Every visit to Paris, I always try to find new places to explore, but there are places that I return to over and over. Place des Vosges and the Marais is one of my special places.

J'adore

The Palais Royal has always been a very special place for me since my second trip to Paris in 2008. I am drawn there each and every trip.

Art Imitating Life

Taken just before the Métro doors slammed shut. I love the fact that now, I can't discern the real shadows from those on the walls.

No matter how humble, Parisians always seem to find a way to make their homes so very charming.

A lLovely Discovery

As I strolled along rue des Archives, in search of my friends and a glass of wine, I noticed this church, Église protestante unie des Billets Parioisse. I pushed a door and found this lovely courtyard.

Quirky

Normally I zip over to Monsieur Google and try and find a nifty French phrase for my title, but this collection from the QUIRKY, Tombées du Camion left me unsure. Maybe some of my French speakers can help me out.

Tombées du Camion has several shops around Paris.  In 2011, Mary, Peter and I tracked down the original shop in Montmartre. As a photographer, it's a delight. It's just chock full of an odd but very orderly collection of vintage memorabilia, doll heads, print shop letters, vintage ties, you get the idea. If you visit the Marché aux Puces you can stroll through their stalls there. Visit their website for other locations.

Des sourires

One of the many things I love about the Marais is the diversity you find in such a small area. For a photographer, it's endless portraits of such beautiful faces.

Jolis balcons

One of my favorite balconies in the Marais. Always look up in Paris!

Timeless

Occasionally, I snap a shot and later realize the image could have been taken decades ago. This young boy, on a school field trip near the Village Saint-Paul, gave me that feeling.
