The Colonne de Juillet makes the spot where the Bastille prison stood during the French Revolution.

Last June 2010, I stayed in the Marais, just blocks from the Place de la Bastille.  One day I came up from the Métro and looked the Opéra square in the face.  I will admit that it has never been a favorite of mine, but I'd hoped it would "grow on me, in time.  Well .... it   hasn't.  It's sleek, curvy and to be honest, not all that well cared for in places.  I have photos but decided to leave that alone.  Maybe if I had been inside for a performance,  I would feel differently. This bright sunny day, I did my best to put a good face on it.

Here's a First

I never thought it would happen, but I have finally stumped Peter, my go to guy

 for all things Paris.  Peter, JB, Owen, Mary and I struck off down this street last June and I think the flags must have some meaning. Of course I took no archive photos and when I enlisted Peter's help, he couldn't recall the street either. What I do remember is that it is near Place de la Bastille. Regardless, I thought the ROUGE and the flags made a festive shot, especially since we in the U.S. are waving our flags this holiday weekend!

Place de Bastille

Last June, Place de la Bastille was my "hood"!  I snapped this shot after coming up from the Métro one afternoon. I think I need to pay homage to my dear Paris ami, Laurent. I'm pretty sure he took a similar and much better photograph earlier on his blog, Daily Photo in Paris. Laurent, you're my inspiration!

Ma Petite Cour

My last trip I had a great little studio apartment on rue de la Cerisaie, just a few blocks from Place de la Bastille in the Marais. It was on the ground floor and my windows opened onto this sweet little courtyard. I share these nice memories with you today.
