Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation

The Deportation Memorial in Paris ( 1062) honors the 200.000 who were deported from Vichy France to Nazi Concentration Camps during World War II.

200,000 crystals are imbedded in these walls to symbolize the deportees.

The memorial is located on the Seine directly behind Notre Dame Cathedral. There is no charge to enter.

Lovely photos, V. I hadn't realized this place was there when we visited Notre Dame, and I totally missed it. Next time.

This was one of the most powerful places I visited in Paris. Sacred ground. Thank you for knowing about it.
