I will be honest, this opera house at night is about as lovely as it gets. By day, the property is not well kept. I can't imagine why the City of Paris has let this structure fall into such a state.

L'Opéra Bastille dans la nuit

The darkness of night can hide all sorts of blemishes on our buildings V. Lots of squares in this image.
Lovely shot!
Sad, I remember the Opera house being old and beautiful, do they have two opera houses?

Basically, I find the sight pretty hideous but your photo makes it look almost glamorous and exciting! Kudos to you for that!
I wonder the same thing, V. Maybe if this one were as beautiful as the Opéra Garnier to begin with, they might have taken better care of it.
I'm assuming this is a second opera house.
totally agree - sometimes b&w is a better colour than colour.... it is hideous and badly looked after; I guess it's also much less beloved than the Garnier (got to be because Garnier is top notch....)
cool pix though!
Some of you asked about this opera house. Yes, there are two and the one most photographed is the Opera Garnier. The Opera Bastille is the modern structure and unfortunately the City of Paris has let this less than lovely building fall in disrepair.
I probably look better in low light, too. It happens to all of us as we age.
