Sadly, I don't often have the pleasure of taking one of these, but the few times I have, I've been happy to see that they are equipped with GPS devices that make the language barrier a little easier to navigate. I still recommending having your destination address clearly written and also have a general idea the route, just in case you get a driver that wants to give you a little roundabout tour of Paris on the way!

I've never had a French driver take the "scenic" route, but it did happen in Barcelona. Imagine the guy's surprise when Robb told him off in perfect Spanish!
I don't take many of these either, but the last time I did the driver was dressed in a jacket and tie, flirted charmingly, and asked if I was Parisian. Can you say "extra-large tip?" :~}

I walk around Paris, or take buses, but this is good advice. I got taken on a roundabout tour of New Orleans once in a cab~and we all spoke English! I love the intensity of the color in your photo.
We've caught a taxi a couple of times, but it's near impossible. They usually don't stop if hailed, they don't come if your hotel books them, even for long fares out to CDG, the hotel people will just shrug and say "it's fashion week". When we did manage to flag a taxi one night I asked the driver about the what the light system meant as I hadn't been able to work it out- the driver started talking about Napoleon in an answer that I didn't actually fully understand.
