I can't imagine being so blasé about living in Paris that I would be talking on my cellphone while weaving between the
colonnes de Buren at the Palais Royal. Unlike the yesterday's photo where I more or less composed the photo and then the father and son walked into the shot, this one was taken on the fly. You do what you have to do!

It's a wonderful capture, V ~ he does look engrossed. Maybe he's being asked to pick up milk on the way home ~ I guess that happens in Paris too sometimes?!
Great catch Virginia, it worked really well and resulted in a fab image! I can't ever imagine taking any scene in Paris for granted, but I guess if you see it often enough, you end up 'not' seeing it.... Nah! it wouldn't happen!! Have a lovely weekend.
You captured the juxtaposition here of art and "la vie quotidienne" as they go about their daily routines. I love the reflections of the wet pavement and think that I have seen it wet/snowy here more times than dry... makes for a great shot!
All three of the gentlemen appear oblivious to their surroundings --- Ahhhh, to spend so much time in Paris that it becomes mundane --- (not that it would ever happen, but it would be nice to spend that much time there)! Love it in B&W.

I call my daily route my "pig trail"...his pig trail is one that we all envy...but even utopia can becomes a bit of a routine!
Janey, I laughed. When I was growing up here in B'ham we had a bbq place called The Pig Trail In! :)
No doubt I will come off as callous, Virginia, but I suspect Starman has it partly right. The man probably walks this way often, and sometimes he is taking a business call and needs to focus on the call instead of his environs. But, many other days you might have caught him strolling contentedly and acting like "I live here, tourists, don't you wish you were me?"

I don't find you or Starman callous at all. I know that when you live in a place it becomes so routine. I will say that I don't go to Paris when I don't ask Peter the same question. I will say that I think as a blogger/photographer he is more "appreciative". One thing about this place is that the columns are not on the beaten path. I can't imagine crossing this place to get from A to B as it were. Whatever, as you and Starman know, I'm enamored. Guilty as charged! HA

Et oui Virginia 'le parisien' ne fait même plus attention à son environnement.
Lorsque j'habitais à Paris, j'ai longtemps travaillé 'rue Saint Honoré' et j'étais juste à côté des colonnes de Buren, j'aillais très souvent déjeuner dans les jardins du Palais Royal, c'était une vraie pose et cet environnement magnifique je l'admirais, cet architecture est imposante et Buren a apporté une idée nouvelle qui à l'époque a bouleversé tout le monde à Paris(tout comme le pyramide du Louvre à aussi)
