Mary and I strolled up rue Mouffetard that Sunday and wondered where to have lunch. I spotted La Crete. I had a nice dinner there way back when I was stranded in Paris due to standby issues a few summers ago. We had a delicious lunch , and the owner kindly agreed to pose for me. French/Greek strangers abound!

Hi Virginia,
Great photograph of the owner of La Crete. Always good to return to a Restaurant you had a nice dinner previously.
Happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
What a warm and welcoming host ~ he looks very happy to see you, V. {Of course!}
Nice smile Virginia, I so wish I could relax in FRONT of the camera!!
Well, I have not been to this restaurant but I had a delicious meal or two in Crete...I think that you should add this guy to your "strangers" list. Great shot and portrait, mon amie!
I will never forget my culinary journey through Paris. I ate so much, it is obscene!!!!
GREAT SHOTS DEAREST! Anita
Stranded in Paris ... What a great excuse x
Wow.. La Crete a Paris...
Hope you had some Cretan delicacies there Virginia.

A handsome man .. was the food good?
I have found that in America, Greeks always run very successfull Restaurants. They have a real Talent.
Good business men.

It's interesting just how many "French" bistrots are run by people from other countries.
In general I've noticed that all food somehow tastes better in Paris. Maybe it's partly because after walking around all day and taking in so much, one is always delighted to sit down and take in some restorative nourishment... ?
Owen, I'm sure you know that I think EVERYTHING is better in Paris! :)
Starman, I rarely venture to the ethnic places in Paris but this was a nice change.
Yvone,
Here in Birmingham the Greeks run some of the very places restaurants!
Costas,
No , I think I shall have to visit your beloved Crete to experience that.
SUZI, That's a long story, some of which you can read about in the July/August '09 posts.
Hah! I love it. La Crete in Paris! Was it French food or Greek food? Or French/Greek food?
Nice portrait!
Good portrait. Well done :)
To me, this face looks nothing but Greek! I've said it before, V—when it comes to portraits, you clearly have a real gift for capturing something special in each of your subjects.
He does look like the man of the kitchen !
Der Eifelturm da war ich auch schon drauf und bin die Treppen hoch gelaufen das hält wenigstens fit. :)
