I took this photograph as I approached our apartement on rue Saint Roch for the last time that rainy day last January. Wonderful memories of a week I'll never forget mixed with the sadness I always feel when I must say au revoir to dear friends and the city j'adore. Bittersweet.

Oh, how I can understand this sadness! Saying goodbye to Paris is always difficult to me.
Bitter sweet indeed. There is a deep attraction to this city that once you have found I believe it never leaves. I dont understand but I have it and I hope I never lose it.

I know what you mean Virginia, each time I've left I feel torn. Sometimes I do wonder though if I would really like to live there on a permanent basis, or is it the romance of the idea!! I'd like to find out haha! Rainy day Paris looks so good!
Oh, I remember quand j'ai dit "au revoir"....I would rather say, "A la prochaine ma belle..."
Anita
I too have trouble with goodbyes...We all hope that you will return.
Just look at the bright side: You didn't have a car that you needed to park on that street!
You have all those beautiful memories with you..

You'll always have Paris ..
I couldnt resist .. and this photo, tres magnifique .. the essence I think is Paris is in this photo .. a melancholy moment stored in memory (and pixels) forever
Awwww... I miss it so! This is a wonderful memory of "home" in Paris.
Maybe you should consider a permanent arrangement?
Ce n'est qu'un "au revoir" Paris vous attend et vous aime !
à bientôt
Danielle
Seeing this photo and reading your comments stirred up that same feeling in me....a feeling we know all too well....but there is the anticipation of the 'next trip'!
It has to be a challenge keeping this blog going when you are a continent away. Time to go back!
It's been said here, but until the next time, V! Still, know just how you feel—it's always tough to leave even if you know you'll be back.
You said it with your title! "Au revoir"!! See you again, soon!
I can actually feel myself there in this photo!!!
Peter,
Of course you know how I feel. It will never be soon enough pour moi.
For all of you that feel the same way I do about my Paris, I know you understand so very well. Oh I"d love to gather us all there one day.
We feel this every time, the only thing we can say is... to the next time!
Is this heading in the direction of Rue St Honore?
