Sunday Church Series - Look Up
The vaulted ceiling of Église Saint-Étienne du-Mont. Completed in 1624, it holds the shrine of Sainte Geneviève. Although her remains were burned and thrown in the Seine during the French Revolution, the slab that her remains had rested upon is now enshrined in gold lattice. Located next to the Panthéon, it is a must see.

Happily sketching the animals at the charming little zoo in the Jardin des Plantes.
For my readers in the Birmingham area, I will again be teaching my 5 week photography classes at Vestavia United Methodist Church's Conservatory of the Arts beginning Monday, September 12. These classes are designed for the amateur photographer who wants to improve their photos. Come join us!

Nouveaux vs anciens
Cimetière du Montmartre, the third largest in Paris, features a road running directly overhead some of the resting places. The current cemetery was finished in 1824 and built in an abandoned gypsum quarry. Rue Caulaincourt, or Pont Caulaincourt, a decorative metal viaduct runs over it. This is a resting place in Paris that I recommend if you are visiting Montmartre and want to experience a Paris cemetery.

Sunday Church Series - Église Val-de-Grâce
The summer of 2009, our apartment overlooked the back of the beautiful Val-de-Grâce church. I walked over for services twice and was able to enjoy lovely services there.

La Vue
A little quiz for my very sharp blog readers. Where was this taken?
Update: We had one reader who was close. Indeed this is close to Trocadero, but actually it was taken from Cité d'Architecture et du Patrimoine

Les fleurs éternelles
Every cemetery I've visited in Paris has these lovely porcelain flower remembrances. Some are wreaths, some crosses, always beautiful. As they are exposed to the elements, their patina gets even richer. Often, as here, tiny moss begins to grow amongst the petals.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Library
Well the theme this month was a cinch, as I have only been in two libraries in Paris and neither one allowed photographs. Fortunately I could take this through the glass doors at the Bibliothèque national de France, Richelieu Library.
