Baguettes to Go! - 100 French Strangers

French Stranger #48

While in Thorigny sur Oreuse, Fr, I was photographing the old rusty gate below and decided to see what was on the other side. Voilá ! The baker from the boulangerie next door came out with these scrumptiuos baguettes and loaded them in his van. I should have grabbed one! The gate was pretty wonderful as well, oui?

Un morceau de baguette encore chaude au petit déjeuner, c'est bien meilleur qu'un macaron...! Don't you agree, Virginia?

Je suis d'accord avec Alice... much as I love macarons, for breakfast I'd have to take a warm, crusty baguette straight from the oven, with lashings of butter and {wait for it - sorry} yes, Vegemite! I had the funniest vision in my head of you pinching a baguette and running off giggling, Virginia. What a surprised baker that would have been!!

Mmmmmmm... I can just smell that bread. I'm with Shell & Alice, only I want cream cheese and strawberry jam on mine.

I'll admit that I didn't see the lovely rusted gate in the first photo as I was immediately drawn to those gorgeous baguettes! Also the guy's smile made me smile. I'll also have my baguette warm right out of the oven, but I'll just have it plain (which makes it easier to justify eating the whole thing).

Alice, Oui avec beurre, maid j'adore les macrons avec café aussi! How's that???:)

Katie, I can almost taste them just looking at the photo.

Style, never had it with jam. Sounds wonderful.

Shell,
Just say no to Vegemite!!

Alice, typo, I meant MAIS. WHY do I try to blog/type without my glasses on???

ET Suzy,
Oui, love Bonne Maman anything!

Daryl,
He was so cheerful I probably could have sweet talked him out of one but unfortunately I can't sweet talk en français. I need to work on that !!!! :)

If only we could find bread that good here. There are two authentic French boulangeries in Fort LaDeDa, but the it isn't the same.
