City Daily Photo Theme Day - Bleu

I"m as guilty as the rest of you Paris lovers, I am resistant to change in the city I love. Considering its age, things have moved slowly but at other times, it seems those special Parisian icons we cherish are being run out of town a bit too quickly. Take the kiosks. Sadly they will soon be replaced with newer, more weather proof and modern replacements. Pass the tissues. The very thought makes me sad, but I don't have to sit in that hot little cubicle all day selling magazines and le Monde. So today our monthly theme is BLEU so I thought these charming blue umbrellas were very fitting.

As you know after all these years, it's the first of the month and another THEME DAY has rolled around. To see what my fellow CDP bloggers have chosen, click HERE!

Palais Galiera

For years as I walked past, I gazed longingly and often pushed my lens through the enormous iron gates to photograph this beautiful place. My patience paid off when the restorations were complete and it reopened. We visited a beautiful exhibit in 2013. Le Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris, features fashion exhibits. I see from the website it is closed yet again for major refurbishment, but will reopen in 2020.

Knock Knock

Certainly one of the most beautiful door knockers in Paris.

Le marché aux oiseaux

Today we return to Île de la Cité to visit the Sunday Bird Market. If you're visiting Paris with children, put this on your list. Of course there are colorful birds, but rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils. It's worth a stroll through.

Marché aux Fleurs

The Paris flower market is open daily,  although  on the weekends you'll only find potted plants. Cut flowers can be bought during the week at the various shops clustered along the Seine, on île de la Cité,

Charmant!

In 2009, I walked down rue Crémieux for the first time, and fell in love. We revisited two years ago, and I'm still in love with the charming pastels homes.

Passage du Grand Cerf

Passage du Grand Cerf is one of may favorite passages. I especially like the florist, and I found a sweet little yarn shop there on my last visit.

Paris From Above

Tucked away in the 11eme on a nondescript street, is one of the hippest places in Paris to enjoy an afternoon apéro. We discovered Le Perchoir in 2013, shortly after it opened in November.  The bar, enclosed in a tent, offered these nice benches with pillows and warm throws to ward off the chill. This rooftop bar offers commanding views of Paris rooftops and the Sacre Coeur in the distance. Highly recommend looking it up on your next visit. Of note, there is another location in the Marais now as well.

Trés Funky

If you're searching for a hotel in Paris that's a bit on the wild side, look no further. The Hôtel Original is certainly that. I took this shot looking up the spiral staircase.
