Les bateaux

All day, every day, the boats are for rent at Luxembourg Gardens. I learned this last trip that they even have boats with sails of many countries to offer. Everyone is happy peut-être?

Paris Orange

Seraphim's cheerful exterior is a nice break from the ever present noir in Paris!

Sunday Church Series - Église Saint-Merri

Several years ago when we visited this church, just steps from the Centre Pompidou and Stravinsky Fountain, they were doing some work on the façade. This unusual, and oh so Parisian, piece was installed just outside the doors. Built between 1500-1500, I think we all agree it can always use some restoration from time to time.

Mignon!

Sunday at the Jardin du Luxembourg is always on my list. Parisians of all ages flock there. The parents with their young children are always a favorite of mine. This precious girl with her Poppa were such fun to photograph.

Pont Neuf

The oldest standing bridge across the Seine. Luckily there is nothing to attach a love lock to so it's still standing and as lovely as it was when it was completed in 1607. Four hundred years later, it's beautiful.

Bienvenue

It was cold and rainy but the warm glow of this café near the Panthéon, begged us to stop in.

Paris Greeter

This lovely, smiling street musician was the official greeter the Sunday we visited Luxembourg Gardens last November. She returned his smile.

Paris Rouge - La porte et l'homme

The Musée deCluny on a cold and rainy day in November. This man sought refuge from the rain.

Regardez cette porte!

I wish I had a euro for every time I have screamed that!

Sunday Church Series - Église Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis

I try and always stop in this pretty church on rue St. Antoine, when I'm in the Marais. I love the contrast of the warm candle light against the cool gray figure.

Paris Rouge - Les Stylets

Biking to work in Paris with a very fine pair of red stilettos. I'm in awe.

From the Inside

Finally, after pressing my nose against this elegant gate for 7 years, in November 2014, we finally were able to go inside the beautiful Musée Galliera ( Palais Galleria, Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris) for an fashion exhibit after being closed for renovations for years. Located just across the street from the Palais du Tokyo, it is the fashion museum of Paris. Check the website here for current and upcoming exhibits. It is worth a visit!

Non

When it's pouring rain, la terrasse est fermé. Quelle dommage.

Sunday Paris Church Series - Basilique du Sacré-Coeur

While the rest of my group headed inside the beautiful Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, I stood outside the doors and became enchanted with the ceiling. It's a photographer's thing. Many of you will understand.

Dusk, rue de la Paix

As I crossed the busy street I caught this, stopped and took one shot before the traffic moved!

Jouer à Paris

With the lovely Musée de Cluny in the background. When visiting their website I read they have programming for parents and their young children. This day it was raining. I would love to return and see les enfants enjoying this colorful play yard.

The Long Walk Home

After a long day of walking from one end of Paris to another, this might as well be Mount Everest for me.

Reading In Paris

Although I think iPhone use is ramping up even in Paris, I still enjoy finding someone reading a book or newspaper!

My Quiet Corner of Paris

I can't promise Place Dauphine is always this quiet, but this day, I had it all to myself. That's usually been the case. Maybe one day I'll return and find pétanque players or friends chatting on a bench. No matter, Place Dauphine is a very quiet, special corner of Paris for me.

Stylish II

These incredibly sculpted statues line a small courtyard at L'école des beaux arts. Peter took Mary and me last November. A beautiful place full of inspiration for the students. This was my runner-up for our City Daily Photo Theme of STYLISH on June 1st.

Playing For Euros

I had my euros tight in my fist as I made my way down the steps at the Sacre Coeur. Just after I took this picture from above, he stopped, put up his harp and probably went for a coffee. I'm sorry I didn't get to hear him play!

Adieu cadenas de l'amour

Yesterday the City of Paris finally addressed the ridiculous "tradition" of clamping cheap padlocks on the Pont des Arts and tossing the key in the Seine. This symbol of undying love had reached epic proportions with over a million locks now defacing bridges all over Paris. The Pont des Arts is the first, with others to follow. The huge sections were removed yesterday and eventually plexiglass panels will be added so the view of the Seine will be restored. I took this photo in 2012.  You can see some locks but in just a few years time, the panels were a solid mass of locks. Some panels even collapsed from the weight and had to be replaced with plywood. Good riddance!
