Dancing in the Street

Gisèle and Michel
If you are in Paris early on a Sunday afternoon, you need to make your way to the rue Mouffetard Market. On the sidewalk by the church, a group of musicians gather, song sheets are passed around, and everyone sings along while couples dance !!! This probably ranks right up there at the top of my "Favorite Paris Moments" list. Ohhh la la. What fun we had!!

Merci to Starman for suggesting this song! Click here.

Very nice Louvre shots and the couple dancing where you captured the motion is excellent. Well done!!

These are wonderful Virg. I love the top photo. What did you sing?

These are just fabulous, Virginia. I adore all but especially the movement in the first one. Did you move the camera with their movement or did it just happen? I'm sure, knowing you, you did something clever. Would love to know.

Jilly, I was shooting at lightning speed. The glare was so harsh I couldn't tell what I was getting. The photograpHy gods were smiling on me as Meredith Mullins would say! It was so much fun. I wanted to stay all afternoon and tap my toe and try to sing along! BTW, the guy at the top was in a RED SUIT and TIE with white accessories.HA

AH,
I wish I could have belted out "I Love Paris" en francais!

Thanks Doug. Can ya take a bad photo in Paris? Well actually yes. Peter saw how many blurry ones I took before I hit paydirt a few times.

What great fun! Did you have a sing and a jig about?!

It's a bit normal to get a few blurry ones. The ones you show are really nice!! I have to go and watch this one day... without dancing!

I would have guessed it was Buenos Aires if I didn't know any better.

Oh wow, oh wow! I have to go there if I visit! Did you dance too? If you go without a dance partner, can you find one there, or do they all come in couples? What fun!

OK, after reading the comments, now I want to see the photos in color!

Maya, the little lady in the last photo was dancing with another lady when we arrived. The kids were dancing alone. THey appeared to change partners some. I would have liked to have had a chance but we were in a hurry to get to the museum.
The gentlemen in the red suit will make another appearance here as a Paris portrait!

Starman,
Maybe I can find Martha and her group on Youtube and insert it. It's stuck in my head!

Peter,
I'll buy you a red suit if you'll wear it there!HA

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, Virginia!
I love your photos of people, and these action photos are a delight, and in B&W, magnificent!
I have to say that Dancing in the Streets song is great... I was introduced to it via Van Halen's version...
Thanks for sharing your trip, V!

This sort of thing is tough to capture but the top shot (white hat and shades) is spot-on. Bravo V!
