Au Marché de la Butte

Amélie shopped here. I think it might have been spruced up a bit since I took this photo a few years ago.

Louvre reflet

These four guys walked up at just the right time. I showed them the photo and gave them a thumbs up!

Today I join James' Weekend Reflections after a brief absence. I always love to see what the participants have to share with all of us. Click HERE to see them all!

Les Ombres

When I return to favorite spots in Paris, like the Jardin du Luxembourg, I'm always searching for new photo opportunities. This was one of only four really sunny, blue sky days I had in Paris and the shadows of my favorite green chairs made shadows that I photographed over, and over, and over!

Time alone in Paris gardens is a good thing.

Sax sur le pont

Sometimes while rushing across a bridge in Paris, you need to stop, take a seat on the bench and devote a few minutes to this.

Musique du Mètro

How sweet the sound after trudging up countless flights of steps to hear this group playing Vivaldi!

Les Danseurs

Every Sunday around noon, the locals gather a the bottom of rue Mouffetard and sign old French songs they all know and love and many dance. Often those in the crowd join them as with this grand -mère with her sweet petite fille.

Aprés-midi dans le Marais

Late one summer afternoon, I was strolling back to my apartment in the Marais.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - The Best of 2013

Oh January's theme is usually easy for me as I always have one special photo from the year but this time I was torn. I decided to choose this image of the Louvre. That morning in Paris, the wind  had blown and poured rain.  The forecast said rain. all. day. long.  As Mary and I were having lunch, I looked out the café window and saw blue skies and the sun shining. A magical Paris moment. We hurried to the Palais Royal first and then the Louvre. My offering as my favorite photograph for 2013.

Un reflet - Le Louvre

We all know that the rain in Paris is a given , but after......the reflections make it all worth it, n'est-ce pas?  The pigeon helps.

Les Ombres

Late on a cold Sunday afternoon in January,  the pétanque players were still at it. I'm thinking that probably the only thing that keeps them home might be rain and snow!

In the afternoon we will talk photography and how to bring home fabulous photographs from your travels.

Le Coureur

I'm not sure. Do you think he was preparing for a run around le Centre Pompidou or to sprint up the steps of the escalator??

Le plus grand cimetière

Paris' largest resting place, Cimetière du Père Lachaise, bien sûr.  If you are going to be in Paris for a while, this is the one you should see. If a short visit, there are many other smaller ones that you can visit.

Monsieur

I love the Marais for many reasons.  One is the ethnic mix that you find here that you don't see in many parts of Paris.

Shine On!

When faced with la Tour Eiffel twinkling in the night, I feel compelled to take as many tourist shots and I possibly can.

Le joueur d'orgue

We continue on our little trip to the grande brocante. Today, another bright spot, the organ grinder.  He was a happy fellow and some even danced. Mary and I did not.

I've included a BW and color photo in a feeble attempt to please all of the readers all of the time. HA!
