In Full Bloom

Square Georges Cain is tucked away in the Marais, just across from l'Institut Suédois, on rue de Payenne. Another very lovely quiet corner of Paris.

City Daily PHoto Theme Day - Parks

Today, the first of the month is our THEME DAY. Paris has an abundance of parks so I chose one that most visitors might never discover. Square Georges Cain is located on a quiet side street in the Marais. Put it on your list.

Square Georges-Cain

Tucked away in a quiet little street in the Marais, Square Georges-Cain.  Located near the Musée Carnavalet, it is a quiet corner of Paris with interesting historical remnants, such as this rosette from the former Town Hall.

Livres anciens

If you love old book stores, you will be very happy in Paris. Sadly, many keep unusual hours, so often they are not open when I happen by. This shop in the Saint Paul area of the Marais, was one I had to admire through the window.

L'élégante porte

The history of Paris museum, the Musée Carnavalet, was closed this day, but the view through the gate was lovely. Today the museum is again closed for renovation until the end of 2019.

L"artiste

Meet Olivia Clétienne, who paints in her tiny studio at the Village St. Paul in the Marais. She paints animals and restores artwork. She kindly allowed me to photograph her at work.

L'artiste

Prowling around the Village Saint-Paul, I spotted this artist at work. Olivia Clétienne, peinture animalieret et restauratrice de tableaux. She heard the click of my camera and looked up. She kindly allowed me to take more photographs.

Les ombres

Every visit to Paris, I always try to find new places to explore, but there are places that I return to over and over. Place des Vosges and the Marais is one of my special places.

Timeless

Occasionally, I snap a shot and later realize the image could have been taken decades ago. This young boy, on a school field trip near the Village Saint-Paul, gave me that feeling.

After School in Paris

After school fun outside a high school in the Marais,  just steps from the Saint-Louis-Saint-Paul church.

Incroyable!

Whatever they put on the geraniums in Paris, they share with the wisteria. Killer vine in the Marais.

Sunday Church Series - Les bougies

Église Saint-Paul-Saint Louis, consecrated in 1641 is one of my favorite smaller churches in Paris. Located in the Marais on rue Saint Antoine, it's not as grand as some, but I love it. Take the side door on the left and you will find a charming little alley.

Wandering around le Village Saint Paul one afternoon, I poked my head into a small courtyard and discovered this little photography exhibit, but alas, the artist must have stepped out for a smoke! If you are spending some time in the Marais, I highly recommend.

Sometimes I marvel that when I see an image, I know exactly what trip and where I was. This lovely door was just a few blocks from Place des Vosges, June 2010.
