Pétanque å Paris

Just before I left for Paris, my friend David Livingston sent an email with one request, pétanque players. I assured him that if the weather cooperated, I"d have some for him. Our last day in Paris, we brunched at Treize then met Peter and walked through the Jardin du Luxembourg . It had poured rain earlier, so there weren't the usual suspects there, but voila! My favorite guys were on their usual court. I'm pretty proud of this one.

In autumn, the urns at Jardin du Luxembourg are spilling over with chrysanthemums. The colors change from year to year, but always stunning.

Weekends at the Jardin du Luxembourg the ponds are full of these little sailboats with the children hanging over the side launching them with their batons.

To be honest, I was so taken with this adorable little girl that after a few photos from afar, I just went up to Papa and asked if I could take their picture.

This sunny November morning,  I had my choice of green chairs around this fountain at the Jardin du Luxembourg. No kiddos sailing boats, but a few pigeons to keep me company.

Weekends at the Jardin du Luxembourg, the perfect time to people watch. It's a grand time for Parisian families to enjoy the gardens. This sweet girl and her Papa were so kind to let me photograph them several times that day.

The area around the Boulevard Saint-Michel entrance to the gardens is especially delightful. Year round there are wonderful photography or art displays along the fencing.

On this November day, I was disappointed to see that there were no pétanque players. The spectators stayed home as well. Triste.

I've just returned from a wonderful 8 days in Paris. We had rain and blue skies. As a friend said, "You don't go to Paris for the weather!" Absolutely.

We met friends for brunch near the Jardin du Luxembourg, so Mary and I forged on for a walk through the gardens in a light rain. This is one of my favorite places to photograph. The trees were spectacular, and this image reminds me of why I love these gardens so much. No pétanque players this year. Maybe another trip.
