Since I sadly do not live in Paris, I'm sharing a photo from our window this last trip in early March. We were on an upper floor so I had the pleasure of photographing the rooftops in all times of day and weather. Rue des Entrepreneurs.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Bleu

I"m as guilty as the rest of you Paris lovers, I am resistant to change in the city I love. Considering its age, things have moved slowly but at other times, it seems those special Parisian icons we cherish are being run out of town a bit too quickly. Take the kiosks. Sadly they will soon be replaced with newer, more weather proof and modern replacements. Pass the tissues. The very thought makes me sad, but I don't have to sit in that hot little cubicle all day selling magazines and le Monde. So today our monthly theme is BLEU so I thought these charming blue umbrellas were very fitting.

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Friends

January, 2012, Peter and Mary and I were shooting,  and I apologized to this lovely lady for stepping in front of her shot. She replied that she and her friend had seen us on the Mêtro and at an exhibit that morning.  It turns out she is a faithful blog reader! She recognized me and Peter.! What a delightful encounter. Clista and her friend ran into us the very next day at the Pet Cemetery. It's a small and beautiful world.

It seems wherever we go in Paris, we find groups of students ton field trips around the city. It must be marvelous to have the unlimited cultural opportunities that Paris offers! This lucky class was touring one of my very favorite museums, Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine. If you have not discovered this jewel, put it on your list for your next trip.

How could I offer any other musician but Christian Bassoul! I met him and his band of singers and dancers in June, 2009, when my family found them on rue Mouffetard. For many of my trips to Paris, I make sure I"m there on Sundays. He is a Parisian treasure.

I'd do almost anything to stay our of the camera, but in 2009, when I did a walkabout in Paris with one of my favorite photographers, Meredith Mullins, I complied. She was sneaky. She waited till I looked out over the sunset on the Seine, then said, "Virginia!" I turned around and she caught me. It's not everyone who has a Meredith Mullins portrait. I"m very proud.

Now, more than ever, I admire the French for their commitment to environmental issues. Throughout Paris, you see more and more vertical living gardens/living walls. Today, the first of the month, means my City Daily Photobloggers around the world are posting a photo on this month's theme, BLACK AND WHITE IN COLOR! This was an interesting theme although not so easy. I snapped this while making a metro/bus connection last November at La Defense. It was my first visit and I was disappointed that I couldn't get closer due to construction issues.  C'est la vie!

CDP Theme Day - Self Portrait

1 avril, which means another City Daily Photo Theme Day. This month's theme is Self Portrait. I had a few choices as I sometimes like to catch myself in a Paris window. I chose this one today from 2014, when my dear Paris ami Peter ( Peter's Paris) was caught with me in this window. It's a perfect choice because Peter is often by my side in Paris, leading the way to new places to enjoy and photograph!

City Daily Photo Theme Day - Triangles

Our CDP theme for the month of April is TRIANGLES.  I simply would not hear of dragging out a shot of la Tour Eiffel, non, it must be more creative than that!  Well it was a bit of a challenge,
but I settled on the top of the sweet Dodo Manège carrousel at Jardin des Plantes!

City Daily Photo Theme Day - The Best of 2013

Oh January's theme is usually easy for me as I always have one special photo from the year but this time I was torn. I decided to choose this image of the Louvre. That morning in Paris, the wind  had blown and poured rain.  The forecast said rain. all. day. long.  As Mary and I were having lunch, I looked out the café window and saw blue skies and the sun shining. A magical Paris moment. We hurried to the Palais Royal first and then the Louvre. My offering as my favorite photograph for 2013.
