Zinc des Fleurs has always been one on my favorite little shops on rue Mouffetard. This Sunday, the charming owner stepped out, and of course I asked to take his photo!
Virginia, I called and left a message for the owner telling him about his photo. Perhaps he will understand my French - I spelled out your website... Or perhaps Peter can stop in the next time he's over that way and explain.

V, you mentioned that Parc de Bagatelle looked like the parc beside peter's apartment. It did not take long to get there by Metro, but it is a fair way out. It is well on the way to La Defense, out beyond Blvd Peripherique, beyond the 16eme. It is a truly delightful area. I am trying to raise the energy to get out there again next week. Will most certainly go out there again when I return in September. Quite magical ...
This is a great portrait, V! I did ask permission for a few photos and all but two nodded. Now I am not counting all that I took without asking and all that Marie could get with her smaller camera without calling attention to the "snapping"
He looks delightful and someone who would love to see his photo on your blog.
Jack, he's #75. I have many more that I've not posted from this trip and others. Stay tuned!
Kathy, Oui, a delightful looking gentleman! :) V
VP, Go by and say bonjour!
Alexa, For southerners, I think it's not so much gumption but just being friendly. Here in B'ham it comes so naturally that I"ve decided that in Paris/France it's just as easy .........and so much FUNNNNN!
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, lover of all things French ( whose French is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic church and community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.
I fell in love with Paris in March 2007. It was as the French say, le coup de foudre : love at first sight. As a result of that trip, my photography took another direction. Since that time I have pursued a career of sorts in photography and dreamed of returning to the City of Light. November 2008 found me strolling the streets of Paris once again. My first visit I was so overwhelmed with the incredible beauty of the city, I photographed it as a "tourist". In 2008 I returned and I looked at the city with more of a photographer's eye. I wanted to capture the unique, the small details, and oh yes - the people! This blog was started as a photo diary of that trip, but I have been most fortunate to return to the city j'adore 15 times since. Each time I leave, I wipe a tear and start planning my list for the next trip. Paris may well be a moveable feast, but I think it's best savored in person! Someone told me that once you have been to Paris, you will leave a piece of your heart. I left mine right there, but I brought home some wonderful memories. It is my pleasure to share them with you.

Zeroing in again, I see. And not at all old and decrepit...
How charming! And happy. I find it hard to imagine one could be anything other than charming and happy if one owned a flower shop in Paris.
Wonderful portrait. I think you made his day!

He reminds me of John Lithgow
He looks like someone anyone would be happy to know.

I admire both your gumption and your photo skills, V! This portrait is great because he's posing for you without "posing" for you.
We always spend some time around rue Mouffetard and from now on Zinc de Fleurs will be a bit more special...
Awww...there you go again....capturing the heart of a delightful looking gentleman!!!
A very nice portrait, Virginia. 100 strangers? What number is he?
