Need to ask you something. What happens in Birmingham re Easter. I mean re having what we in Australia call 'public holidays'.

In Australia we have declared Good Friday through to Easter Monday as public holidays. This means that most office workers have the day paid but do not have to attend. In recent years, shops are able to open but have to pay their workers double-time. But I dont think shops can open until midday on GF.

I was 'shocked' here in Paris when GF was an ordinary working day. Every thing was apparently the same as the day before. Where I stay in the 7eme all the government departments were still operating. The Stations of the Cross was held from 7pm onwards. In Paris, Monday is a holiday.

How is it organised in Birmingham? Is that pretty much the same for the rest of the USA?

He is risen! This crucifix is gorgeous and a wonderful reminder of the sacrifice He made for us! Joyeuse Pâques!

Julie, There are no Federal (public) Holidays associated with Easter. Some businesses choose to close on Good Friday and most schools have the day off.

I enjoy seeing images from churches around the world. Even though I am not very devout, churches and their artwork inspire me.

Happy Easter.

I'm away from home and a bit late in wishing you a Happy Easter—but it's no less heartfelt. This image is brilliant!

I was out of town yesterday, so I, too, send a late Easter greeting to you. I had the pleasure of having a special Easter dish a couple of years ago while visiting with friends in Tours. As I recall, a mixture of ground meats with sliced boiled eggs inside. Will try to get the name of the dish for you.

Spring weather always makes me wish I were in France!
