Jour du Macaron VI

Only the French would dedicate a day to the delightfully scrumptious confection...le macaron!  Pierre Hermé started this lovely day in 2005 and of course it continues.  It's no secret that I'm a huge fan.  I just regret that I'm not in Paris today with my macaron expert Genie au'jourd hui!

Vreni, I think Genie summed it up for all of us! A group of us enjoying our favorite flavor in Paris together!

Genie,
My fav is still your pistache with Nutella buttercream. Miam miam!

Jeanne,
You described it perfectly.

Elizabeth,
To heck with will power!

Harriet,
What is your fav flavor?

32 and Cinthia,
You're right of course.

I'm ashamed to say I've never tried these, but I will correct that when I get a chance!

Do you know I have never had a macaron?! I never heard of them till I started blogging and another blog makes them all the time. Maybe I should try making them one day!

don't think I've ever been to Hermé, but maybe when we're there in June. It takes me a couple of days to finish off a big macsaron.

For all of you that say they are too sweet or that you have never tasted, I say you must try them once. I will admit, that one will be quite enough as I'm not a huge sweet eater. If made well they are wonderful. If they are a day or two old, they are too chewy and just not good! My dear blog friend Genie, Paris and Beyond, brought be a whole box of hers last spring. I put them in the fridge and ate one a day for over a week. They were divine!

Obviously some are more aware about this than others! I completely missed the day! But any day is good for a macaron or two! :-)

Miam! Seriously—they couldn't wait a few days for me to get there? Oh well. Every day is le Jour du Macaron, n'est-ce pas, Virginia?

Re yesterday's great photo: Reason to perfect your French—to give as good as you get!

Alexa
Oh I can't wait for you to get there. Will you keep me posted every day????

And I do need to learn some more bad French words. I know one! :)

I had a macaroon about a year ago and it was the best piece of jewel I've had!
