Hi Virginia, that is truly a beautiful bit of metalwork there, very nice find... and it looks like the wood has been patched under where the knocker would hit... Grain in the wood is gorgeous also... I wonder how old it is ?

Any travel plans on the horizon ?

Oh...BTW...I think the piece under the knocker might be metal...to facilitate the knock!!!
