Bittersweet

Taken from the sidewalk outside my apartment shortly before I left for the airport.

Lovely photo V. So hard to leave Paris behind, isn't it? Glad you had such a wonderful time though. And you know you'll be back!

First I thought that you would now leave Paris, but I'm glad to hear that you'll come back! So looking forward to more stuff from you. We can never get enough of Paris!

Don't blame you for wanting to be in that little spot. My kind of neighborhood. Character, I believe -:)

I visit Paris regularly too!

I especially LOVE the first day on arrival.
Catching the smells and sounds again. Being the midst of such chic and style - there are endless things I LOVE about my first day back.
Leaving - now that gets harder and harder....

Yeah, that's the hard part! Time to start thinking about the next trip—meanwhile, can't wait to see all your new photos, like this capture of the (early-morning?) Parisian light.

Love the amber rectangle of light in the window - like Alexa, I can't wait to see the rest!

This view might have made me miss my flight and go job hunting.

For me such a wonderfully evocotive shot. Oh! To be inside one of those rooms, with the evening sun creeping around to dapple golden floorboards and crimson wineglass. Thank you so much for allowing me as an armchair bound traveller such dreams!!

What a sad moment. I wish you would tell us more about your apartment and your walks around the city.

Starman,
Don't you worry one bit. There will be many photos and tales, I promise! I'll be over my poutiness over having to come home shortly! HA Can you see my lip poked out?? :)

Petrea,
Don't think that hasn't entered my mind on a number of occasions!

Half Heard,
I'm thrilled you've come along for the ride!

My first trip to Europe I did try to get a job in Geneva and Garmish Partenkirken (sp???) No language skills or any skills for that matter, so I was a bit limited in my potential...not much available at the embassies for college graduates with PE majors...I tried the American army base in Garmish, but found out that even third world folks were ahead of US citizens in the queue for jobs!!! Oh well, had I stayed, I might not be where I am today!!!

The saddest sight in Paris is the last look back at our temporary 'home.'

Thought I'd drop in and say how much I love your pictures.

Ah, the lucky folks who live there...

Owen,
Oui, and all that live in and near Paris. I hope you're right, more trips to come. I certainly enjoyed our time together. And........now you're making me wish I'd insisted on a trip to Picpus! I look forward to your post and photos from that visit.

Petrea -- The first time I went to Paris I DID go job-hunting. Aaah, the hubris of youth (on the other hand, I got a job)!

I can feel that tear welling up in your eye from here, V. Another beautiful visit will surely be just around the corner.

Love the shot. Glad to know you are safely home, albeit a long trip. So enjoyed your Paris trip, Virginia. Come back soon and visit Menton next time!
