French Kudzu

My southern readers understand perfectly.  Kudzu is an invasive vine that would have covered the entire southeastern U.S. by now if we weren't vigilant and the fact that is dies back in cold weather.  This vine, which climbs all over  the walls in Paris reminds me of it, although it's a lot more esthetically pleasing, even in winter.

Today I FINALLY remembered to link to James' Weekend Reflections.  Click here to see all the entries.

This is beautiful and even better in the summer I am sure.

Does it have a flower in summer Virginia? I can just imagine all the little suckers clinging onto the wall there! We have a similar type of creeper and when you pull it off the wall, a repainting is definitely required.

We call the vine the is seen adorning the houses of France "Virginia creeper", which we also happen to have growing up the walls of our house in Australia. The bright autumn foliage of this tenacious vine never ceases to please me.
Bonne semaine.

That window is so interesting --- the header and carved upper portion are very distinctive and lovely. And then we have to discuss the pink background ... And, of course, the charm of the vine!

What a wonderful color this building is! The brown of the vine seems to accentuate the color. Will we be seeing a summer photo of this same scene? I hope so.

Hi Virginia. That's nice Paris window and what a clever title.

I've only been to Paris in winter and fall but now you've got me wondering what the vines look like in spring and summer.

P.S. I went ahead and changed the linked photo for you.

Bonjour V. I believe that French creeper is referred to as "vigne vierge." My grandparents had a plant running along the walls of their house. It is gorgeous in the fall! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

I like the vine-covered walls, no matter where they might be.

Like a thousand skeletonic limbs clinging to life against the mellow wall, waiting until the sap rises and new growth breathes a fresh verdant cloak. Beautiful V.

The leafless vines add so much texture and interest ... lovely shot Virginia with that soft rose coloured wall.
