Cimetière de Saint-Denis

Last month, Genie, Holly, Peter and I joined  Owen ( Magic Lantern Show) and his delightful wife Anne, for a day touring  Basilique Saint-Denis.  Owen is a lover of French cemeteries, so after we toured the church, he took us a few short blocks to the municipal cemetery.  It was late and we only had about 15 minutes to get our photos, but we took advantage of the opportunity until the guard shooed us away.  We adjourned to a local café for coffee, tea and chocolat chaud. The perfect ending to a lovely day.

What a wonderful day Virginia ....and to spend it with blogger friends is extra special. I don't remember noticing the Victor Hugo quote at the top of your site before.. But I just love it .... oh ! How true.
Beautiful pic.

I agree - it’s a fabulous way to end a day. Cemeteries are full of photo opportunities. A great image.

That cross is so ornate...certainly not what we are used to here. I love the way you have caught the light on the trees behind..almost like flames licking around the feet of those angels. Great shot V.

Wow that is gorgeous.

I am trying to figure out how you and Genie decided who got the shoot? Did you call out. "This one's mine?"

Beautiful details on the cross Virginia, the two angels near the bottom are lovely in Silhouette! Perfect light as the sun's going down.

Religious symbols are not my thing, but this is nice.

You have a really ornate cross here, Virginia. Another magical day in Paris: Click. Eat. Click. Drink. Click. Eat again. Click. Drink again.

Jack has it all figured out.

Janey, well Genie are most likely going to post a number of photos that we both shot. Hopefully not on the same day, but you never know!
