This might be my candidate for Favorite Fenêtre Française from my last trip. As we walked to Le Reminet on rue Grands Degrés, this caught my eye. Even on a cold January day, it had that certain je ne sais quoi!
I had more success duplicating those quintessential Parisian windowboxes filled with red geraniums when I lived in New York. It's much harder in the South!
I never tire of seeing photos of the gorgeous French windows and I certainly NEVER tire of taking photos of them also. I love what you have been showing us!!!
Beautiful shot and reflection. I see why it is your favorite Fenetre. How are they keeping flowers blooming in the dead cold of winter? Our flower pots outside are hibernating.
...and thank you Virginia for the music here at your site. I had changed windows (but not closed yours) and was working on something else when your music drifted across my morning. Love it!
Charming indeed! Would love to be on the other side of that window peering out. I have a thing for doors and windows. Especially French ones. :D Why is that, i wonder? :)
I have always loved these old french doors with the rod iron railing! This is so beautiful!! On another note I received my beautiful Annie Poon drawing today!!!! OH I love it V...it is fantastic!!! Love this type of art. My 12yr old son loves it as well. He commented right away how you don't see alot of this type of drawings in marker. I can't wait to show it off! Thank you again!!! Pamela xo
Je ne sais quoi? C'est parfait. That's what it is. My first trip to France resulted in hundreds of photos of flowery windows, mostly from the countrside. I thought of selling them for a calendar. This was before we could do that easily on the web!
Jack, I HATE the new Google WV as well. Last week I took it off here to see what would happen. I had so many Anonymous spam comments in my Junk mail I had to put it back on. I'm sorry. It makes me crazy on other blogs and I dislike making it hard to comment here but don't have a choice for now. Thanks for continuing to leave your witty, thoughtful comments! V
I am a former elementary school teacher, a full-time photographer, lover of all things French ( whose French is slowly improving), obsessive Paris traveler, enthusiastic church and community volunteer, and grandmother to 5 delightful grandchildren.
I fell in love with Paris in March 2007. It was as the French say, le coup de foudre : love at first sight. As a result of that trip, my photography took another direction. Since that time I have pursued a career of sorts in photography and dreamed of returning to the City of Light. November 2008 found me strolling the streets of Paris once again. My first visit I was so overwhelmed with the incredible beauty of the city, I photographed it as a "tourist". In 2008 I returned and I looked at the city with more of a photographer's eye. I wanted to capture the unique, the small details, and oh yes - the people! This blog was started as a photo diary of that trip, but I have been most fortunate to return to the city j'adore 15 times since. Each time I leave, I wipe a tear and start planning my list for the next trip. Paris may well be a moveable feast, but I think it's best savored in person! Someone told me that once you have been to Paris, you will leave a piece of your heart. I left mine right there, but I brought home some wonderful memories. It is my pleasure to share them with you.

Don't you love finding those sweet windows all over Paris! And always love the reflections too. Hope you had a most wonderful trip!

Beautiful. Windows make such great subjects. xx
Etonnants ces volets qui se reflètent dans les carreaux. A Paris, les volets, ce n'est pas très fréquent.
The charm is spilling over as sweetly as those plants. A beautiful window indeed, V.
Yes! I have one from Rome last summer too...they take me away.
I'm a big fan of windows, too! This is lovely...you don't always see the splashes of red in January à Paris! Nice find.
I think it looks so good because it's not 'trying' to ..it just is!! Lovely image Virginia.
Those windows are so beautiful and so French.
J´adore les fenêtres à Paris! The shutters, the wrought iron, the flowers...
I feel as if I've seen this window before .. its lovely and so very European

Whoever is lucky enough to have this beautiful window takes good care of their plants. Excellent catch, V!
Oui, c'est tres jolie!!

Charming is THE perfect word for this window!
It probably keeps the teenagers from sneaking into and out of the house through the window.
Hate your word verification.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one having trouble with the new word verification style!
