Mors Doré

All too often I find myself in Paris on what I call the Paris fast track. We are always so anxious to see it all, eat and drink it all, but more than that, shoot it all, that we don't have time to sit and soak up Paris. This last trip while spending a day alone,  to wander and and explore, late in the afternoon I sought the small, quiet place Dauphine. This afternoon I was totally alone there. I'd walked a lot, so I found a bench, took a deep breath, and just soaked up the moment. Mors Doré caught my eye, are you surprised?  When I returned home and found this image I Googled it and alas, it was in French ( the very idea!) so I sought Peter's help. He tells me it's a book binding shop. The lagniappe is the man in the upper window that I just discovered.

Isn't it fascinating what one sees when one revisits one's photos when one gets home! Encore l'intrigues de Paris!

It is hard not to get caught up in the fast lane ticking off all the sights when travelling V .... but if we do ... we have your photos to ponder and appreciate. Thank you.

I love this, Virginia. And I'm glad you had Peter's expert help in translation. Yes, it does make sense knowing what it is!

I have found that my strongest memories of my trips are from the times I just stayed still and absorbed what was going on. On a trip to Sicily we stood above a fish market and just watched the activity - it remains a strong image in my mind. It takes a little while to tune down and really be in the moment and so worth it.

The outside could use a bit of a paint touch up!

Amazing what you see when you stop looking so hard, right? I think it would be very nice to be a lagniappe, working in the pretty Place Dauphine.

It's exactly those 'happy accidents' that I enjoy so much. Neat photo; an even better story behind it. Thanks for sharing both.

This shop went out of business and has been since 2013. Beautiful, beautiful outside though and must have had a wonderful history for such a long time.
Re the man in the window: Happens to me all the time. I have very bad eye-sight and often find stuff when looking at the very large screen at home.... surprising, inspiring and wonderful! Thank you.

PS: One of my last pixies on flickr is showing a gull flying off Lake Léman Switzerland and only on screen I saw a 'wing of flight' being pulled in the wake of its flying....
