Place Dauphine

We have King Henri IV to thank for this pretty little place, constructed in 1607.  Located just off the Pont Neuf on Île de la Cité, it is a quiet little spot which I have found almost empty whenever I've walked passed.

I love this square (in summer you can find there people playing pétanque) and the light in this photo.

I prefer the Square du Vert Galant. We attended a picnic there one chilly summer day.

Lovely framing!

Why oh why did America turn out so sterile compared to Europe? The elegance of the structures got lost in translation in the 1900's and now we are left with the Trump Towers. If only I could live in the beauty of Paris.

Sounds like a great spot to get away from the tourist crowds.

I'm offering another giveaway.
I'd love for you to enter and let me know of more hidden gems.

Virginia,

It's a lovely picture to look at on this cold snowy day in Paris. I was hoping for an early spring but this picture may be as close as I get. It's a lovely square and you can always find some peace and quiet there. If you are there on a Monday morning and the weather is nice you will find an excellent artist (Didier Espagnol) painting on Pont Neuf. He is there every Monday when the weather permits.

Jeff,
I know Didier! I have talked with him several times at Place des Vosges. I have a few of his prints as well. He's a persuasive!!

This is lovely -- yet another spot close to my Parisian stomping grounds I had never discovered!

I buy a lottery ticket when the prizes get astronomical, and then I daydream about getting a flat in Paris with some of the winnings. I have always thought I would want my flat to be on the Left Bank, but maybe a top floor flat here would be nice . . .

Back in the day, I had friends who lived here, and I can see their building in your photo. Yes, I'm still envious. :~}
