Speechless

I walked up on these two standing, slack jawed outside of this gallery late one afternoon.  I will have to admit, I was a bit speechless myself, but could not resist the photo opportunity.  I've almost posted this many times and thought better of it.  Recently a friend urged me to go for it.  C'est Paris, n'est-ce pas??

I was very careful where I placed my copyright on this one!

Cela étonne s'agissant d'une photo mais si c'était une statue, on la regarderai à peine.

It's a slice of life, butt not as attractive as some of the Old Masters' works. Nothing wrong with showing the human body. This one makes me feel better!!

PS. You have nothing to fear from showing this photo; nothing wrong with the displaying a nude, although it's not always what it's cracked up to be!

Kate, thanks for stopping by and I agree about not being afraid to show nudity. In France it's embraced, whereas here in my area of the US not so much.

Alain, you have a point!

I don't think it's cheeky at all! {couldn't resist another pun}.

I agree with Kate, the work of Old Master's was easier on the eyes. But this may just be a modern day version of the same full bodied woman.

It's not nudity that shocks - it's age and nudity.

It is a great photograph Virginia.
A good thing you have decided to post it.

No problem here; they may simply be contemplating what the photographer might have been trying to show in such photos. Certainly more depressing to look at than my recent viewing of Olympia at the d'Orsay recently. :-)

I really don't know what to say. I also wonder what the photographer is trying to convey in these photos. Nudity is a part of our everyday life but yet in the US it's so taboo which I think creates more problems than not.

I'm glad you choose to show it! :)

Oh, my. It certainly would have stopped me in my tracks as well. But, I remember years ago seeing grown men and their sons playing a friendly game of soccer in a park in Potsdam, Germany--all bare naked! Not your average American activity.

I don´t know what could be the problem with showing this photo - maybe because I´m European. There´s really nothing "wrong" to see for European eyes. We see naked people all the time in advertisings, on the tv etc - yet the poster of an exhibition on nude men in a Viennese museum recently caused some excitement, http://vrenisviennadailyphoto.blogspot.co.at/2012/10/nude-men.html

C'est la vie....a fun pic and I'm pleased you posted this V. Sometimes I think we get too hung up on what is art and what is sex...nothing taboo about this. We are very used to images like this here.

Al, honey I am used to the images, believe me :)

Thank you for all your comments. Trust me I am not a bit embarrassed to post nudity but this was a little different I think. I just loved the two guys looking in the window. Glad no one was offended and appreciated it for what it was. Vive la France!

I want to thank you for posting this—if only because I now feel a bit better about my own body. :~} Seriously, it's a great photo—no need to be shy, V!

Ummmm . . .

V - I think if there had been photos of nubile young women and the two guys were standing slack jawed it would be much more controversial. As it is, I think they are one plating the artistic message as are we. Lovely in B&W. The human body is a work of art.

I think the taboo in US is against showing older folks but skinny or muscled young people are OK...

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.... :)
You'd be surprised with the compliments Hero Husbands comes up if he can force himself to think of something beautiful about my aging body.... lol
I see no prob whatsoever for posting this shot - but I would prefer to go to a museum's show (too)!

Well, I'll admit that I could picture this in the United States, but only if it was selling plastic surgery. Then it would be acceptable as the before picture. I also thought the photo could be a man. I know some people here thought it was a woman.
